Ok -missing a way to upload a picture

Missing search function - I cannot get any sort of searching going on say the forums - find so and so's posts about such and such etc etc

Cannot like posts etc

There are things like a file attachments tag that seem to do nothing...

I know there is more - have to add as I try to do it and find it missing...

Numerous pictures have been  uploaded to the site.  Perhaps asking will bring someone who will advise you how to do it.

If you click on a person's screen name, you can choose 'Track', which will show you a list of their posts from the day they joined the site.  If you are searching for specific topics, use keywords in the search box on each page.

No, you cannot like posts.  The site owner decided it was unfair to make posts a popularity contest, much like his decision not to require people to give their locations or any details of their disease status when signing up for the site.

You can put in a URL when you hit the picture icon - but no option to upload... the keywords search shows me that word EVERWHERE - not that word by user... yada yada...

No formatting

I can hit these purdy buttons till the cows come home ... but it all gets turned back to plain text... and the whole forum is hard to read because all text is lacking formatting...

Signatures lack formatting

Instead of using a smaller different font to distinguish it is all the same (also no break line) So reading someones posts means you have to constantly remember to look for where the post becomes a sig

Try photobucket.

Too much hassle - I'd have to make an account etc etc... most forums I use have photo uploading... I just don't bother to post pics to tohers unless I already have them posted elsewhere and can be bothered grabbing a link...

Certainly I'm not going to make a photobucket account to post images of the error messages from this forum - and nor would I post those messages at another forum...

Liltiger,

Wow....lazy and entitled doesn't even begin to describe you.

or simply used to forums and forum software hosting has been standrad for many many years now on most sites guess what that is part of creating a community forum creating the ability for interaction in more than plain text and without needing to leave and go other places

Hey ...

There's a tab on the top right hand side of pages headed "Images".  After clicking that tab, one can see lots of previously posted pictures.

I have posted a bit more than many that visit these pages; I certaintly concur with the view that a picture speaks a thousand words.  I have posted lots of threads that includes pictures.

I certainly agree with anyone that thinks more pictures are better.

However, let's also remember that gratuitous pictures take up bandwidth, which has been a problem for the site recently. Wink  Not my opinion, but that of our tech guy.

Would you like me to take my picture down?  I only did it to show that you don't have to take an image from somewhere online, since it came from the image store on my PC.................................Sarah

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MSi in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

The best - and most bandwidth efficient way to show pictures or pieces of music here would be to use Dropbox public links.  If anyone is interestes in that, send me a PM with your email addy and I'll send you a Dropbox invite.

here's an example of one of my pictures:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/93138310/Bosherston%20Pics/CIMG2128.jpg<

You click the link and connect to my Dropbox but it doesn't use up loads of this site's band width.

You can do this with pictures, music files or all sorts.

And we need a "like" button..hehe

No, it's all good, Sarah.  Some things were deleted from the site a few months ago to accommodate heavier bandwidth and memory usage, right after we were relentlessly attacked by spambots.

I have hosting at $10 a month that runs one of my two websites and a forum.

The website is aruund 200 pages - most have images and quite a lot have small video snippets... the forum has plenty of images and some video...

Never get close to having bandwidth issues and formatting the text is hardly going to make a huge difference in bandwidth is it? I mean really blue text is soooooo much worse than black???

Pros and cons to storing copy on forum versus retrieving(leave site return to site) yes? If it is stored elsewhere the link is often dead later on so forum history becomes a mish mash

If you look at the top of the page, you will see an orange tab entitled "images".  Click that and you can see and trace all the images stored here on this site.

Could possibly the virtual profile pictures also appear directly by each poster's virtual name in each post, so we could recognize each other faster than just by reading the poster's name? It would be also more fun in this already sad world of infectionsi and diseasesi. Most forums I've been to have this available. Another problem of mine. When I registered to this site yesterday, I by mistake uploaded a wrong profile picture. I was trying to delete it and then to upload the correct one. But I am unsuccessful, each time I try, my old wrong picture comes up.Thank you.
