Who is on Rifampin?

I am about to add Rifampin to my MWF 250mg of Zithi and am doing away with the doxyi. Eventually will add Flagyli in again. I would love to hear from Rifampin users and those who are on Dr. Siriam's Rifampin, Zith, Flagyl CAPi to see how they are responding. Thanks! Chris

CAPi since 11/06 for Cpnii, Lyme, Bartonella, Myco P, CMV, HHV-6 infectionsii. Doxyi 200mg daily, Zithromax 250mg MWF. NACi 2250mg daily. All other supplementsii.

Just so all you know the

Just so all you know the only symptoms remaining for me are: -occasional bouts of fatigue after too much exercise and stress. -minor inflammationi of the vagal nerve which seems to lead to irregular heart beats or skips when I change position or swallow at times. -minor twitching. -occasional blurry vision. -rare brain fog if I drink too much alcohol. This is quite minor compared to my laundry list of symptoms when I started CAPi in 06' and could barely function. I also went very slowly as reactions to Doxyi and Zithi sent me to the ER several times with tachycardia and all kinds of porphyriai symptoms (I learned my lesson!). I have done very few Flagyli pulses because of my work load and still feel quite well now but my Dr. will be making sure I add it in once I have adjusted to the Rifampin. I tested positive for Bartonella which is why he wants me on Rifampin and thinks this will take me to remission (I hope). Thanks all! Chris

Chris,My husband has been

Chris,

My husband has been on Rifampin 600mg once a day for about 9 months.  He has definitely made improvement while taking it.

Here's a good thread I was reading today re Bartonella on another website.

Best of Luck!

Chris- It's a pleasure to

Chris- It's a pleasure to hear how well you are doing given your starting place, and your agonizing 'way back when about protocolsi. I'm so glad! I'll be interested to hear how your Rifampin journey goes as I'm still Rifampin-phobic (an irrational fear of...). You are another "poster child" for secondary porphyriai, aren't you! Look forward to hearing another rifampinaut journey.

Chris, this is indeed good

Chris, this is indeed good news, like Jim I remember the hard times you were having not so long ago.   I hope you do well on the Rifampicin, but I know that you will feel it at work.

Chris I added

Chris I added Rifampin back in August 2007 and still take it. In my case, I stick to the 2x150mg dosage a day levels. Mostly, I don't notice any reaction from it...mostly. However, that's after being on it nearly a year now. When I first started taking it, I did notice it more. In my case, it would feel like a flare up in symptoms briefly (maybe for an hour) and then subside.

Chris,I am taking rifampin

Chris,

I am taking rifampin 300 mg twice a day.  I am following the Vanderbilt protocoli with zithro and flagyli also.  I would say that rifampin has been the easiest antibiotic for me.  I don't really notice any side effects that I can attribute to it.  The zithro give me stomach problems sometimes and the flagyl makes me more tired and can also cause stomach upset.   I do experience dizziness at times but I had that before I started rifampin.

Started Vanderbilt protocoli 1/9/08  Rifampin twice a day, azithromycin MWF, Tindamax for 7 days out of a month at 250 mg three times a day,  b12 injection monthly NACi daily, DHA, calcium pyruvate, prilosec, low dose naltrexone 4.5 mg

Chris, I anticipate adding

Chris, I anticipate adding Rifampin down the road so am interested in your response to it.  In some respects it may be easier at least on the stomach than Doxyi.  Looking forward to your updates on this one.
