Vitamin D3 & Steroids
Hi all,
In doing some research for my brother, I ran across some studies that suggest that Vitamin D3 and Dexamethasone (Decadron) may work in synergy to reduce inflammationi in various diseasesi. Since I know many on this site are taking steroids, I thought others may be interested in these:
Reversing the defective induction of IL-10-secreting regulatory T cells in glucocorticoid-resistant asthma patients.
And interestingly, Dex may increase some 5-lipoxygenase products, particularly the cysteine leukotrienese (LTC4, LTD4 and LTE4):
Glucocorticoid receptors are required for up-regulation of neuronal 5-lipoxygenase (5LOX) expression by dexamethasone.
I'm not sure about Vit D3 and other steroids though as I haven't been able to find any studies on them yet...

Keep this up, Red. I think some of the accumulating picture you are finding for D3 and the systems it affects may become a critical part of getting at the multiple sources of difficulty for many here.
