Treatment using Antibiotics for kids

Hello, my name is Byron and I am new to the site. I personally don't have asthma but my 12yr old son does. I am a single dad and I am just looking for help or a push in the right direction in terms of finding a doctor who will use antibiotic treatments. Does anyone have a child who has had success with this type of treatment ? Does Dr. Hahn see kids or just adults ? I live in Indianapolis and I'm willing to travel if I could find a doctor who will explopre this therapy on kids. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Byron

Welcome Byron

You have probably come to the right place.  We have several here who have comparable problems.  Read the Getting Started tab at the top and check in here for other comments that will undoubtedly appear.  We are building a hopeful history with asthmatics of many ages.  This is a fascinating bug to learn about.

Hi Byron,

I have only just seen your post.  I hope all's progressing well with your 12 year old son.  My son, who's 8, is doing really well.  He is now on the full CAPi of Rifampicin, Zithromycin and Flagyli (he started taking Zithromycin mid December 2010).  He is tolerating the flagyl well.  He did a 2 week pulse, took 2 weeks off, and has been on flagyl continuously since.

Although he is still needs his ventolin puffer sometimes, it's nothing, just nothing like it used to be.  I am so happy and so is he.  He had some bloods taken the other day and his liver function test was fine.  We ordered a new cpni titre as well, just to see if it has gone down at all and will get the results in a week or so.

Nathaniel takes:  300mg rifampicin daily (first thing in the morning a half hour or so before breakfast), 250mg flagyl twice a day, 600mg NACi twice a day and a weekly, pulsed dose of Zithromax 500mg.
