There is a section for website improvements

Hi All!

There is a section for website improvements ... just thought I'd stick my twopenneth in.

I notice that it is not clear from many people's signatures where they are from ... no country let alone a city or province.  Lets have an application form that asks such questions.  I mean, the number of times that people have assumed that Mack is a chap is laughable.  In my case, the screen name gives a clue.  The layout of the application form could easily ask & show a gender.

Many people know themselves what they think is wrong with them ... but they don't actually say; so the reader will have to make a guess or write & ask.

Finally, date & time and date & time format:

The British format of doing the date is far more logical and less confusing i.e. 31/12/2013   If you listen to my next peice, you will be totally and utterly convinced:

I don't know what time zone this site works on but it doesn't seem to be GMT.  GMT is where time starts and where time is measured from.  GMT seems to be where the world is centred.  GMT would be a good place to set our clocks at.  That's got to be logical ... after all, we in Britain invented both computers and the accurate clock!

G

Supaguy,  I asked, only two days ago, for people to add their suggestions on another topic.  No one has posted there since.

The website is based off GMT.  You can set your personal time zone settings in "My Account". Choose 'Edit" then choose 'Account' (scroll all the way down for time zone)  (No promises, but you might be able to set dates the way you want them, too. Just checked - not an option.)

I disagree on the logic of your dates being simpler, though.  There are dates scratched on beams in my ancient house and everyone disagrees on what the intent was, knowing the dates will read one way if German carpenters wrote them and another meaning entirely if American electricians wrote them.  I will check to see if we have an option similar to what you suggest, but ONLY if the month reads out in alphabetical characters.  12-10-13 would be far too confusing for most Americans reading here, as well as all the brain-fogged newbies, but 12 Dec 13, or 12 Oct 13 would be easier to grasp.

I've asked before for the 'basics' to be required when signing up for the site.  (Where are you, male/female, etc.)  The site owner believes all should be welcome here without requiring any questions to be answered and so the topic is shelved.  If they did fill that info in, you can find it if you click on their screen name.  If they didn't, he will not require it.

I've been running through the glossary latelyand have deleted some of the sillier stuff, like 'schmaltzy'.  Treading carefully, to avoid unraveling the site...Innocent

I am now going to utterly confuse Supaguy:  I store things on my PC starting wih the date and the way I do this is to start with the year, then the month then the day, so anything stored today uses 14-01-11.  It makes it much easier to find anything.

Next, have you ever thought that maybe Mack wants to be thought of as mysterious?....................Sarah

Hey look, I am not confused about what day it is or the fact that a day should come before a month and a month should come before a year ... I know that: that is clear.

Please people, let's not confuse the already confused.  It is bad enough that a great chunck of the world is driving around on the wrong side of the road.  Tut!  We should have put them all straight when we won the war!

supaguy (sic) are you angling to become a moderator and/ or Mack on this site? Innocent

If so, can you tell me why the javascript is b0rked?

speedbird

Hi Speedbird!

First thing that came to my mind is that the really good thing about this site is that it is unmoderated.  On the UK's MS Society's web forum they vet what is said using a moderator or censor; it can be over 8 hours before what you have posted actually appears.

Anyway, what is b0rked (sic)?

Are you saying that I am sic?

Look, Mack is the editor ... she'll deal with any b0rking that's gone on here.

Oh, when you made mention of me being a "Modrator" it was a good job that I wasn't drinking a cuppa; I'd have coughed it through my nose.  Feel free to propose it if you want to, though. lol

She promised ... absolutely promised me ...

that she was gonna stop snorting coffee (certainly in its liquid form).

And yes, Sarah and the other bint ... if there is any more childishness on MY thread ....

....  then I'll take the pedals off all your bikes!

You leave my pedals alone!  I have a tendency just to read from the new posts on the right hand side, so I got confused as to where Nancy was this time, since my most recent reply was to her on  different thread!..................Sarah

Excuse me, but I insist the multicolored plastic streamers remain on the handlebars, whatever vandalism you do to our bicycles. Cool

Speedbird really is having an issue with Javascript, though, so if anyone else is, please chime in.

What a hilarious thread. LOL. I'm impressed that Sarah has recovered enough to ride a bike! Go CAPi.

GMT?  My last two posts, earlier today, at about 6.30am GMT show as GMT+1 ie 7.30. Is it me?

I don't usually revisit my own posts within an hour so have not noticed before.

Try going to your account and set the current time.  Maybe it doesn't account for the change to/from daylight saving time?

Thanks - hadn't seen that option before
