The Texas sun beat down relentlessly...

The Texas sun beat down relentlessly on his sweat-covered brow.  The sawdust blowing up from the unshielded tablesaw got caught in the sweat and rolled past the safety goggles into his eyes.  The throught flashed through his mind, "I haven't had the saw out since my diagnosis so I wonder if the cog fog is going to get the better of me and I'll end up slicing off a finger?"

Well, I'm typing this with nine fingers.  I didn't cut any of them off, but I did get a nasty splinter.

Anyway, I'm now coming up on 10 days since the end of my last pulse and I've got nothing in the way of physical symptoms to show for it.  I have kept up with the "moppers", but even with that something gets ahead of my ability to flush it out since I've had a couple of really severe anxiety attacks, but fortunately I wasn't in the middle of negotiations when they came on so they were manageable.  Looking forward to the next pulse - Chicago, again, this time.

Sounds good to me.

Sounds good to me.   Shame about the splinter but at least that will get better.   You must be feeling confident enough to be able to us dangerous equipment.   Hope the next pulse goes well too....

My wife and I bought a new

My wife and I bought a new queen size mattress to replace the full size one that we had used for years.  The bed is designed to use either full or queen size side-rails so the conversion was just a matter of changing out the side-rails and then cutting some new slats to go under the box spring.  I have a workshop full of 2x4's (but no 1x4's) so I was making thinner boards out of thicker ones.

Whoa!  You were RIPPING

Whoa!  You were RIPPING lumber?  Impressive sense of recovered confidence, hmmm?

I cut off my fingertip with a hedge trimmer in 1997 - reattached thanks to a hand surgeon - and have great respect for anyone who returns to using power tools.  I'm nearly three years into the Wheldon protocol and have only gone back to very 'safe' power tools this summer.  I think my hand-eye coordination is back, but I'm still leery.

Here's hoping you're both snugly tucked into your new bed tonight.  Congrats!

Gotta say, that flagyli and

Gotta say, that flagyli and powertools (that includes even a blender) don't mix. We consider anyone taking flagyl to be "under the influence" and not in full control of their senses. So I'm glad you at least had enough sense to be between pulses to do such risky business. Love the title, though.

There is supposed to be a

There is supposed to be a new kind of power saw that stops the instant it touches skin. I saw it demonstrated on a hot dog. That is the kind of saw for people under the influence.

hdwhit, I was scared for a second when I read you were typing with nine fingers. I'm glad you still have all ten. I would never demonstrate a power saw with my finger. When I was a child we bought our meat at a meat market where the butcher cut off his arm.

Joyce; I can't; it just

Joyce; I can't; it just makes me cringe! Hope the hot dog survived the test, but I'm not volunteering as a subject. It took at least a year before the nerves mostly regenerated, and another before I felt it was healed. Every once in a while, I still get a serious shot of pain, which I think is some residual healing.

Bad, Jim.  Bad.  Get the hook, someone....  Smile

Rennie; The picture was

Rennie; The picture was marvelous.

MacKintosh, I had a similar experience but since I was using a bargain-basement $19 hedge trimmer, it didn't have enough power to cut a finger off.  Turns out the motor overloads when the blade hits the bone.

Janice C; Where's the excitement in that?

The bed is ready but the new mattress and foundation don't get here until Thursday.
