The calcium in calcium pyruvate - interference with antibiotics?

Does anyone know how the significant amount of calcium in calcium pyruvate (300mg calcium per 1500mg pyruvate in the one I bought) does not interfere with antibioticsi?

My CAPi-prescribing doctors have cautioned taking any calcium within several hours of taking antibiotics. Also my atbx bottles say not to take with milk because the calcium interferes with the efficacy of the drugs.

Someone asked me if perhaps weakening my meds was why I felt better taking 7-8g of calcium pyruvate an hour before Zithro, Doryx, or Tinidazole. I didn't have a good answer. I really feel it's helping me and sure would like to explain this better.

Thanks for any info you can share!

Cheers,

Marysia

The info I have is that, on

The info I have is that, on an empty stomach, all the calcium pyruvate is absorbed by one hour, so little is left in the digestive tract. The only meds really of concern with calcium are the cyclines, and the doxyi (Doryx) is really not as sensitive to this as tetracycline, the one on which all the warning are based. Zithi and Tinii are not especially effected by calcium anyway.

Theoretically, the reason you may be having less reactions is that pyruvate supplies one of the important energy molecules that may be doing one or both of the following: lowers porphyrin production by supporting ATP production; fosters a situation where Cpni is less likely to convert to cryptic formi where it is more inflammatory. They hope to parse out exactly which is the one in the new Chlamydia lab at Vanderbilt, for now it is speculative and theoretical.

But if it's helping you have less reactions, it's not because of absorbtion problems. It means you are benefiting from the support of the pyruvate.

Thanks, Jim, that's a

Thanks, Jim, that's a relief. The calcium pyruvate feels like a real breakthrough for me.

I had a devil of a time porphyriai and herx-wise getting on Doryx, Zithro, and Plaquenil without it. When I added 6-8 g of c. pyruvate an hour before it all got much easier and reactions to the meds lasted only for some hours and then subsided before the next dose. It was so great to have a couple of hours of feeling okay to get things done.

I ran out of c. pyruvate twice over the course of the last couple of months and crashed with total bodily and emotional misery each time. Clearly it's helping me feel better.

I just completed my first Tinidazole pulse for three days and it wasn't so bad. I'm grateful to have the pyruvate. I wasn't succeeding in treatment without it.

I appreciate the info, it's reassuring.

Marysia- You can also take

Marysia- You can also take additional pyruvate for reactions you get after you take the antibioticsi. So that might help too.
