Newbie questions

hi..  first off, i REALLY appreciate  any response from current members..  i am new to CAPi.  i just started over a month ago..  though side effects have been a bit harsh, i feel no pain, NO gain mentality ..

JUST started CPN protocol

wow, i dont know where to really start without saying HELLO first.  its been a LONG 8-10 years of being sick, seeing MANY physicians, and thousands of $$$ later before i really have some what of a guide to getting well.  to just give you a BRIEF summary of my illness, i worked for a poultry processing plant for >10 years and @ the time did NOT think it would cause such heartache, but in a educated hindsight, it created my current condition.  prior to working there i was ENERGETIC and full of life.  well, because it was SUCH a subtle deterioration i didnt put my finger on the enviornmental toxins until 2-3 years ago.  some of the few things i contracted while working there was eczema, asthmai, fatigue, brain fog, dry skin (my skin had always be sooooooo oily) among other things.

Brenda's Progress

This is for Brenda who finally, after two years of Rifampin and flagyli, got her Doxycycline. She has been on it only for two weeks and today called to say: My grandchildren told me that I am walking better. I can lie on my back and draw my legs up and push them out again without cramps. I can turn over. Today I carried laundry out and hung it on the line. The feeling that I am dirty and have to get in the shower every ten minutes because my legs have movement under the skin, is going away (this was undoubtedly muscle spasms). I have lots more energy. AND .... her grandchildren came home with honor roll report cards.

Best pathology

Today I had my post-op checkup - "spectacular", got the drains and the Iron Maiden (my name for the ace bandage) removed, permission to drive (hot dog!), restrictions - don't lift 50# bags of grain for 4 weeks - not even 25# buckets. Will do. The very best part, though all that was pretty good - absolutely clean path report.

Who the heck is Pandora?

look inside the box and see what's in there .........

SUPPLEMENTSi!!!

All sorts of pills in different shapes and sizes, and BRANDS.  So here's the question - Does anyone detect differences between one or the other?  Does it matter where we buy them? Is NACi the same regardless of where it's bought?

Co-Enzyme Q10

Hi,

I'm a bit confused about how much Q10 should be taken on the protocol.  It states that 30-200mg twice per day should be taken.  I am going to increase Paula's dose from 30mg to 50mg twice per day.  Is this correct or should we aim for the 200mg twice per day?  It just seems quite a large variation.

What does everyone else take?

Thanks,

Mark

B-12 Deficiency in Cpn Infection: Dr. Stratton's 2005 recommendations

As I could not find this in the current Handbook, I thought I'd create it's own page so it is more easy to locate! This is from a treatment handout created by Dr. Stratton in 2005, but the information is still relevant:

Iodine supplementation: get informed before using

A number of folks on the CAPi being treated for CFSi/ME and FMSi have been put on iodine supplementation as an adjunct. It is certainly not part of the recommended supplementsi, but some of the CFS doctors using the CAP for Cpni have found it helpful, especially where low energy, thyroid problems and brain fog are concerned.

The relationship between vitamin A and D - Very Interesting!

Hello

I read this in a newsletter about the health benefits of sunlight from Dr Mercola:

"What many people, including health professionals, fail to realize is that your cells have
two receptors for vitamin A, for every vitamin Di receptor. There is a vitally important
relationship between vitamin A and vitamin D. If you receive too much vitamin D, vitamin
A will help protect you from an excess. This is a crucial concept to understand, as many
individuals will take this new information regarding vitamin D, and start to take massive
doses - thinking this would be a good thing.....

Now please understand that I am referring to vitamin A, NOT beta-carotene. Beta carotene

Betwixt 19 and 20...now what??

I have been counting the days since pulse 19 and waiting for some sign of improvement to indicate when pulse 20 should commence, but no such luck. The myalgia/inflammationi set in within 3 days of starting #19 and has remained firmly entrenched. Advil round the clock helps a bit. Pain has cropped up in surprising places: neck, shoulders, tight, ropy spinus erectus muscles have been the name of the game making ambulation so trying that I have found myself in tears just attempting the simplest things. I think I feel worse than I did two weeks post pulse. I admit some of it must be posture-related as I have been too tired to do much. I can be tough about this, but I fear another pulse may just worsen things further?? Am I wrong? -kk2

FMS symptoms, besides pain meds??

Good afternoon!

I've been having fibromyalgiai symptoms for the past 4 days- neck, left shoulder, back of head, band across my head from 1 temple to the other, down my spinal cord. I haven't dealt with fibro symptoms in several years and I can't remember what I can do to relieve my pain and stiffness.

I've been taking Lortab (Hydrocodone with acetaminophen) and/or Ultracet, aspirin, using a topical analgesic oil rub and a moist heat wrap. I'm also stretching. I've considered the chiropractor and massage therapist just haven't made appointments yet.

Restless Legs??? Need answers quick please!

Restless legs?? Need answers quick please! I was out last night with my friend when all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have a seizure.  I have felt this way on and off since starting the protocol so I know it's part of the cpni (besides having a hx of these sizures which i now know is Cpn related seizures). Had not had feelings of a seizure in a couple of years before CAPi protocol. Anyway, after that I realized that I felt I could not stand up. My legs were so weak and I started having the sensation that ants were crawing inside legs. Haven't had restless leg syndrome since last winter with EBVi. And it got really bad last night.

Best day yet! Quick update...

Best day yet! Quick update on my health... I'm in 2nd week of NACi 600mg, Doxyi 200mg, and Erythromycin 250mg and I actually had a decent day. Had stamina for about 6 full hours of work today and I've been online a while tonight. I was only nauseated once today and was able to knock it out with some good ole' fashion compazine. I've been stuffy for several days and sneezing, but not so bad that I can't deal with it! Much better than the NAC flu!

I'm tiring now, but actually feel like I can say I felt better today than I have since starting CAPi. I'm trying not to set myself up by reminding myself that tomorrow is a new day, come what may, and not to get discouraged if this doesn't last.
