Here's an article on a study linking IL-1beta, from H. pylorii infection, with the initiation of cancer via IL-1beta's mobilization of Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells (MDSCs): Low temperature and thyroid issues during treatment?Submitted by biohazard on Sun, 2008-11-23 22:24.Does anyone monitor their temperature? Is low body temperature the norm for CPNi as it is Lyme? Does the body temp fluctuate during treatment? Lyme for one is supposed to intefere with T3 absorption (http://mpkb.mp-dev.com/doku.php?id=home:publications:proal_congress_on_a...) causing hypothyroid symptoms in the presence of normal T3 test results. I assume it is one of the ways Lyme makes its environment more suitable. The idea of Reverse T3 Dominance comes to mind... From: This link MIT: Chronic Infection and Inflammation: What are the Consequences on Your Health?Submitted by Daisy on Mon, 2008-11-17 22:12.Perusing the MIT college course catalogue - I discovered THIS gem of a class. YES - Tomorrow's research scientist are being trained on the concept of Chronic Infection and Inflammationi: What are the Consequences on Your Health? To bad CPNi doesn't seem to be covered in the mailn syllabus but perhaps one day it just might...
CPn infection?Submitted by Teteris on Wed, 2008-11-05 05:36.Hi Gang, my name is Eriks and I have been on CAPi for 7 months. Since starting I was carefully convinced of the actions of a Pathogen/Infection. I am now more and more convinced due to a steady certain improvement. QUESTION? Is my wife at risk from infection from me???? or am I asking the obvious? How widespread should our concerns go? tovaxin failed to helpSubmitted by mrhodes40 on Mon, 2008-10-13 11:02.Tovaxin, the vaccine for MSi in trials, has failed to help people with MS in a stage II/III trial. Efflux pump blockersSubmitted by garcia on Tue, 2008-09-23 06:45.We talk often on this site about Efflux pumps - almost certainly the main mechanism by which Cpni can become desensitized to a given antibiotic over time. But I don't remember anyone talking about efflux pump blockers. These are potentially important in treating other organisms (e.g. candida) and reversing drug-resistance, but they are also important in treating cancer where e.g. tumors become resistant to drugs by expressing efflux pumps. The difference in cancer is we are talking about the efflux pumps of the (cancerous) human cells, where as with Cpn presumably the main efflux pump mechanism at work is the one used by the Cpn itself (although human efflux pumps may come into the picture). Here is a great article I came across: Bacterial Cause for Colon Cancer?Submitted by MacKintosh on Mon, 2008-09-22 21:07.Another possible link between bacterial infection and a dread disease. Somebody's paying attention. And, yet again, it's acknowledged that there has to be a trigger or co-infection, as the bug is common, but the disease is not.
"Gut Bugs Could Trigger Colon Cancer (Sept. 22) - AOL A bacterium that lives in our intestines emits chemicals that can lead to the formation of colon cancer, the BBC reports. The Enterococcus faecalis bacterium is one of dozens of in our bodies that help with digestion and other bodily functions. Previous research has suggested that, in certain circumstances, some of the bacteria could become harmful. Now a new study backs up those suggestions. Celiacs?Submitted by Andesine on Sun, 2008-09-21 03:29.I've just been contacted by a guy who says he spent several years with an MSi diagnosis. Brain lesions, loss of balance, walking issues. He has now found that it's not MS, it's Celiac disease. Adjustments in his diet now mean he is fine. I took a look at the Celiac site and was surprised to find that it mimics loads of other diseasesi, particularly IBSi and CFSi making it very difficult for the medical profession to diagnose. If any of you want to check it out the site is at http://www.ei-resource.org/illness-information/related-conditions/celiac... I've noticed in the past that I feel much better if I avoid a lot of wheat based products so I think I might just give the Celiac diet a go. Any thoughts?
Aflatoxin in grain - re Powell's patent and Chinese grainSubmitted by GoWest on Tue, 2008-09-09 00:01.Endotoxinsi in grain expose us to toxins in grains and in the air. Powell mentions a Chinese rice-synthesized pesticide which may increase ingestion of endotoxini in the future. I have come across a Chinese research project to develop a recombinant aflatoxin-detoxifizyme. Its purpose is to detoxify aflatoxin in food and feed. Pulsing antibioticsSubmitted by GoWest on Sat, 2008-09-06 21:24.When Stratton et al describe pulsing antibioticsi it is not a clear-cut concept. Correct me if I am wrong but basically their "pulse" is a pretty high dose of an antibiotic for a few days to weeks. There is currently a fair amount of research on a concept of pulsing that is relatively low dose and dosed every other day or even every 2nd or 3rd day. It is looking like this type of dosing actually prevents bacteria resistance. In laymen's terms I would describe it as the bacteria know some poison is out there, they hide, and then when they think the coast is clear they venture out, only to find that the level of bacteria killer suddenly goes up, ie the patient takes another dose, and the bacteria get killed. SAM-e / SAMe (S-AdenosylMethionine) - What is it?Submitted by Louise on Thu, 2008-08-28 11:03.Well lacking a Neutroceuticals Discussion Forum Catigory I am placing this in speculations. I speculate that this is helping me. And I am now after a month of graduated loading now I am backing my amount downward to the minimum daily amount available in my tablet form. This info is listed at the website above. Cancer is a fungusSubmitted by Twickle Purple on Sun, 2008-08-24 22:10.I've got an all over Candida problem right now so my doc told me to use Sodium BiCarb then Nystatin. I'm Googling to learn what I can about treatments and efficacy, and came across this: Thoughts? Equivalent antibiotics for rotating while maintaining CAP principlesSubmitted by Jim K on Sun, 2008-08-10 19:43.I'm starting this as a forum thread as it's been discussed here and there. Cpnhelp is just 2 weeks shy of it's third birthday, and that gives some of us some perspective on the long haul of treatment. Clearly the larger percentage (75%??) of folks here do well on what we often tend to think of as the "standard" CAPi which is David Wheldoni's regimen: 100mg Doxyi BID, 250mg Azithromycin mwf or 150mg Roxithromycin BID, Flagyli pulses 7 days every month. Nothing is in a straight line in this treatment for anyone. But some, for example, tolerated the CAP but worsened in thier illness. Some had a range of symptoms improve but others, important ones, hang in there. There are probably a number of reasons why this is so, and a larger discussion could be had in another forum here. lyricaSubmitted by lee mcghee on Wed, 2008-07-30 16:28. Anybody hear about this drug? Its a new treatment for fibro. I dont know if treats the cause or the symptoms. Some people with fibromyalgiai are tealing me this is working for them but I cant find any information on the internet about what it acually is and what is does besides work like a antidepressant.
Continuation of a Clari DiscussionSubmitted by Louise on Wed, 2008-07-30 13:37.I been asking questions regarding effective dosages of clarithromycin for some time every now hen and, here and there. Even got my hand slapped once around the question. Yesterday there was a well written opinion response based on review of the literature by a well read poster here. Since the response was located within another poster blog, I will make a cut and past under this Forum Topic to bring this to the surface for sharing. I have printed out all the info including the links provided and I am most greatful for such a sharing of personal opinion. Again, in gratitude for the way we help each other with the gifts that we have. Louise |
