Substituting Doxycycline for Tetracycline

Does anyone know what dose would be appropriate if I use tetracycline instead of doxycycline in the Wheldon Protocol?

Same as doxycycline I guess, and it isn't much used these days, but why?..........Sarah

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MSi in June 2007, after four years, three of which intermittent.   Still improving bit by bit and no relapses since finishing treatment.

Tetracycline has a lower half life than doxyi, so I believe you need a higher dosage? If I remember correctly the capsules were quite large...like 500 mg. I found this much tougher on the stomach than doxy. If you dont want to use doxy, why not use minocycline?

Treating PPMSi with Azithromycin 250 mg every other day, Doxyi 100 mg BiDi, Coconut oil 4 times daily,  five flagyli pulses. Been sick since June 2009. Having good success and very few symptoms.

It is because my tinnitus">i gets a lot worse by doxyi..It might be the same for tetracycline but I thought it could be worth a try..and minocycline is supposed to have more adverse side effects in the form of vertigo and such and since that has to do with the ear i´m afraid it could be even worse than doxy..

I have considered rifampicin+azithromycin instead but I don´t know..

Healthproblems since 2007, started while working at kindergarten with the flu and endless colds. Feeling sick, muscleweakness and fatigue. Cpni diagnosis sep 2013(IgGi+IgM positive). On Wheldon Protocol since october 2015.

Cirre, according to Allegra and Blasi, 1999 (Chlamydia pneumoniae, page 64, table 1) doxycycline is about twice as effective as tetracycline.

Doxycycline is  also said to achieve better concentrations in the brain and CSF, both reaasons being why tetracycline isn't much used anymore............................Sarah

Ok, yeah I guess I´ll have to live with it then..and hope it´s just temporary..

Hi!

As far as I know, the drug that is most frequently substituted for doxycycline in minocycline. In Australia, Dr Thebault (featured in the Catalyst video) opts for minocycline rather than doxycycline. I believe his preference for this is based on minocycline’s anti-inflammatory properties.

I know that there is a famous name on this forum that recently opted for giving minocycline a try. I believe she only got as far as taking 3 capsules before finding herself almost floored by it. That said, everybody is different. If people didn’t try different stuff, Sarah would not be posting here now and all those people that have gone on to recover and lead normal lives, would not be able.

Whatever you try, I wish you good luck.
