sick

Some people may remember I started finished my first pulse 10 days ago.

I did full 3 days flagyli and felt fine.  Then unfortunately as I already chronicled on this site, I got suddenly tearful a few days later – followed the next day by a nasty cold – which has typically for me dragged on, getting worse and worse.

Winter is always a hideous time of year for me – my ME/CFSi means I get every ‘virus’ going and I get it bad.

Can't guess if it’s a delayed reaction to flagyl – or just the added colds and infectionsi, or if there is possibly a relationship, like momentary reduced immunity ‘cos of CPNi die-off.  One of the difficult things with ME is its hard to know whats going on at any particular time.

In addition – I am vomiting a little (nice) yesterday and today

More interestingly (for me – at least it’s a different to usual symptom) I woke up this morning with amazing pains in one arm, very unusual, didn’t mind really, it took my mind off the coughing, fatigue and chest pains.  That arm pain’s got to be CPN die-off right?

Tonight, a baby coldsore on the lip too, that’s something to do with antibiotic stuff.

Just feeling ill, as people may know, or remember, gets to you after a while.  Today I had some errands like getting an important letter to my doctor but had to go back to bed at 1.30 p.m.  and sleep for 2 hours.  The house is a tip, my son has just-about been fed dinner, I vomited up half of mine.

I know it all takes time ….  But it is really tiresome at the moment.  This is often how I have felt with ME in the winter in the past, and I know the CAPi course takes a while to make positive effects. I am sure when this phase passes things will be brighter.    I hate being negative really and moaning like this, but it just horrible.

Hello Blackfoot, I'm sorry

Hello Blackfoot, I'm sorry to hear that you feel awful.  I felt the same after my first pulse, negative mental reactions and a bad bout of stomach upset which didn't start until a week after the pulse.  I am finding that I have very little reaction until about a week afterwards, sounds like that may be the way for you.  I am now approaching my third pulse and I make sure to carry out the anti-porphyriai measures for the week after the pulse even though I feel quite good, and to continue until the next pulse.  Most of it seems to be down to looking after oneself and pacing things until the effects decrease.  From what I read here, almost all of us feel like this at the start and report that it gets better.  So hang in there, it will.

Blackfoot, I empathize. You

Blackfoot, I empathize. You sound pretty sick and the chest pains worry me. Perhaps you should see your doctor in case you have pneumonia. Do you have a fever?

Hey blackfoot, my first

Hey blackfoot,

my first pulses were HELL!  I did have symptoms you are experiencing, those critters were doing ALOT of fussing, farting & kicking as they were being slaughtered by the abxi.

It gets better, little by little.  Us ME'er react a little more violently to the flagyli!  I have reactions to day 18 after a pulse & I am only doing 375 mg a day!  In a few days I start pulse #6 for 5 days!

Best wishes, rest up

As immunei cells

As immunei cells (macrophages and monocytes) are often infected by Cpni-- and I think this is especially the case with CFSi/FMSi/ME folks-- pulses will cause apoptosis (cell deathi) of a number of the infected cells. Essentially your immune system is lower in infection fighting cells, and just then that darned cold virus pays a visit. Rats! For same reason, some people report mouth sores (virus blisters) after early pulses: immune system temporarily suppressed.

I'm really sorry Susan that you get hit by this right after a pulse. Insult to injury. It does get better! Especially as you clear Cpn from the immune system and bone marrow. You won't get colds much then.

i'm holding on in there ...

i'm holding on in there ... funny felt better immediately after posting. thanks so much for your kind words and advice.

i think i have underestimated the time the early stages would take for me, the vagaries of the path, and the subtle but ongoing, cumulative die-off effects of CAPi....

my recurrent respiratory infectionsi alone - their frequency and severity - is i believe a very big marker for CPni infection in my case, though it has never become bronchitus or pneumonia.  so it will be very interesting to see how this pans out in the coming year.
