Quinolones and iodine in Lyme patients

I just heard Dr. Brownstein present his iodine information at the Age Management Medical Conference. I can see a possible connection between low iodine levels and fluoroquinolone damage in some patients. I suffered severe tendon and nerve damage in 2003 from several weeks of high dose Levaquin and Avalox. The damage seemed just like the Lyme disease symptoms, and I thought it was a herx. The symptoms have not resolved in five years. I no longer think the symptoms are ongoing Lyme disease, or at least, not entirely.

Has anyone else on this message board had quinolone damage, and has anyone else ever tried supplementing iodine to fix the problem? I suggest this because fluoride, chlorine and bromine all block the receptors for iodine. Someone already low in iodine or toxic with bromine, then given a fluoroquinolone might be at much greater risk of permanent damage to tendons and nerves. This tpye of damage is often seen in normally healthy patients taking just a few days of a quinolone - let alone Lyme patients taking several weeks of same.

I talked with Dr. Brownstein about this. He said he felt quinolones were one of the most dangerous drugs out there. He never prescribes them. He suggested sea salt and iodine. He also suggested NAET, but I am not quite on board with that yet.

Please excuse if I have vastly oversimplified this question. I look forward to any ideas on this.
