Questions about when to start Flagyl pulsing.

I am having some trouble understanding how to take the flagyl. I have read the protocol and it is not making sense.

"Two or three months into the treatment regimen, or when the patient is experiencing few problems with reactions, three-weekly cycles of intermittent oral Metronidazolei are added."

The three weekly thing has me thrown. What does that mean?

"During the first cycle metronidazole is given only for the first day."

Do you take the dosage of 400 mg three times a day for your first dose? It says take it for one day but it does not state the dose.

How long should I be on the full dose of Doxyi and Azith before I try my first pulse? I understand it says when the Doxy and Azith are well tolerated, but what am I looking for to know when it is well tolerated?

I know, I know, beginner questions again, bear with me, I will get outta your hair eventually.

No, you won't. Eventually,

No, you won't. Eventually, you'll be answering this question for ten other people. Now, imagine a twenty-eight day month. On days 22 through 26 you will be taking flagyli. One 'week' out of four, except your week will only be five days long, you're taking flagyl in addition to your first two antibiotics. When are you ready to start? When you feel ready. When you're doing okay on the first two abxi and feel you 'might as well' add the flagyl, you're ready. If you're still having trouble acclimating to one of the meds or die-off is still knocking you on your behind, you might want to wait. And no need to do the full dosage at once. Take one pill, see how it goes. If it goes great, you can take more, being very mindful of your body's responses. I did an entire, full-dose pulse of 1500mg flagyl/day for five days and had no big reaction except wanting to sleep a lot. You might be as lucky! It's up to you, so you can do partial pulses for awhile and ease into full flagyl pulses as the months go by, and that's fine, too.

hello tody, pulses are a

hello tody, pulses are a little approximate - ideally you should manage to do one pulse during each month.  i started with a 2 day pulse and 6 pulses later have built up to three, but many people start with one day or even just one table on one day.  my 7th pulse will be 4 days.  i have done it once a month on average, but sometimes i have had to alter the schedule slightly - e.g. due to a holiday (didn't want any unwelcome symptoms during).  Perhaps have a look at the treatment protocol you have chosen again and see what it is you are building up to, to give you an idea of where to start (a reminder to myself to do the same).

Tody, I had the same

Tody, I had the same question as you; so this is what I did.  One flagyl each day for five days; because I had no reaction, I waited only five days and then took two flagyl per day (am & pm) for 5 days and again very little  reaction; I waited five days and started three flagyl per day and will do for five days (I'm on the third day).  So I guess I'm doing it "my way".  I was kind'a scared to start because of the terrible things I've read so I just decided to "jump in".  I said "so reaction" but I am definitely weaker and slower.  It sounds like I'm going fast but I am really listening to my body.

Macorn I don't think I am

Macorn I don't think I am as adventurous as you. I don't think I will jump in as you say. I will likely do what DW has suggested. Doing a short pulse the first month and then building up. My indecision is that I don't know how big of dose to do first time.
