Pulse 16: Be Careful what You Wish For.....

I always would say to myself,” why can’t my period match up with my pulse week?”   Then I would be ready for 3 weeks of feel good days. Well, guess what? I was blessed with an even larger gift------THREE WEEKS of period ---- Well, la-de-fricken-da! Yell Is this perimenopause?  Not sure, but I’m thinking this is it. Overall my pulse was seemingly easy, if a pulse can ever be easy that is.  I ended my pulse and started taking my own post-pulse “top-off” of ibuprofen for the next 4 days to help with the inflammationi. I was back too me in no time!

Like everyone here we have ups and downs and try to keep ourselves motivated.  Ken has been that guide post since day one. He pointed out to me that Sarah was the one who recommended to him doing regular videos of me talking about my improvements. Thankyou Sarah. Of course Ken went one further and taped my 25 ft weekly walks.  I want to THANK YOU both for the heads up. The tapes are a true testimony of my progress.  I know I’m getting better, but this is A REAL EYE OPENER!!! Watching me do the walks has allowed me to see not just how by body has changed but the look of determination to fight this thing.   My first walk at Vanderbilt on 12/07 clocked at 20.24 seconds and now, as of 5/09 I proudly walked the course in 4.28 seconds!!!!   Yes, 25 feet in 4.28 seconds!!!!!Laughing

I mentioned how my body has regained a figure again and lost some of the stumpy looking legs. Maybe the water aerobics has helped a bit too.   Would you believe, I actually left my cane in the locker room of the rec. center. I walked upstairs to leave when the gal at the front desk ask me where my cane went!  OMG is this really happening? (I typically bring my cane because after I leave the pool my legs feel like Jell-O and the balance to match) Well, it was happening for a few hours anyway, until I came back down to earth and back to needing the counter top to move about the kitchen.  I will take every drop of improvement I can get. Thank you Lord for all my friends here at CPnhelp!!!!  KimTongue out

Wow Kim!  Bravo.  Sure

Wow Kim!  Bravo.  Sure would like to see those videos, in the end it may be of real help to others too.  I can see you sharing it with others too.  Yesterday I was at an LLBeanstore browsing feeling every so energetic after my glutathione IV treatment and was alone and looking in all of the departments.  I was looking through the camping are and noticed a set of walking poles.  They had two kinds on display one extremely light weight and another a slight bit heavier.  My point is that they are colapsible to about 12 - 15" quite easily, would be handy to clip one or two to a belt when out for a walk then if you need it well you can get it and if not you can literally forget it.   I was recalling the time when we climbed a mountain in the western part of our state during a family camping trip, must be at least 20 - 25 years ago, on the way down over the rocks I sprained my ankle, likely would not have happened had I had poles like these to get down.    Anyway congradulations Kim on all of your improvements.   Louise

Kim, how many stumpy looking legs did you have?

Gosh, you have done well though: walking at a phenomenal pace, regaining your figure and keeping your determination to fight this thing.  Also, I would say, helping others to keep up their determination..............Sarah

Truly amazing Kim. But how

Truly amazing Kim. But how do you do water aerobics without killing yourself getting  in and out of the pool? I'm terrified of cracking my head open on the pool tile. (I'm also allergic to chlorine.)

Nancy, I use water

Nancy, I use water shoes. and a chlorine resistant swimsuit. I am in the water about 50 min and then shower off the chlorine and rinse my suit. It also gives me alot of strength watching those around me with similar balance issues. give it a try!

The chlorine gives me sinus

The chlorine gives me sinus problemsi and nausea. Also, a cane doesn't work on wet tiles. Oh well. I miss lakes. I believe Maryland is the only state with no natural lakes.

Artile, if it gives you any

Artile, if it gives you any hope... I was once vile-ly allergic to chlorine where i couldnt even be around a pool or walk into a bathroom that had been bleached nor did i ever use it on clothes. I can tolerate it now though, and I use the pool with no problem. Chlorine is an annoying allergy, I hope that it eventually eases up with you because swimming is so good for you. I figured out that its beneficial to prevent candida overgrowth from abxi "downstairs" as well, because technically its antiseptic when you swim in it.
