Help Me Figure Out What is Going On-Please! [1]

Help me figure out what is going on-please!  I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with EBVi [3] and CMV.  My numbers were very high and dr. put me on Valtrex 3 gm./day, Lysine 3 gm./day and Guna Virus (homeopathic anti-viral).  I was ok on the Valtrex until I increased to 2 gms./day.  I began to get that flu-like reaction with bad headaches, eyes got drier and burning, IBSi [4] symptoms returned.  I backed off to 1500 mg. for the past week.  The terrible headache got better but I still feel awful.  Could the anti-virals cause a die-off like response?  They only suppress the virus right?  I still need to get to 3 gms./day and I'm not feeling any better than I did a week ago.  Can anyone tell me (in general) how long it might take to get this viral load down?

Help! I'm overwhelmed and discouraged. [5]

Because my WBC count was low on several test, my doc ordered some test.  His nurse phoned this morning with results.  I tested positive for EBVi [3] and CMV.  I won't be seeing him for 2 weeks.  He sent a message that he will call in some Valtrax or Acyclovoir-whichever I want.  How in the h--- do I know what I need?  I'm not a doctor!

I requested that she fax a copy of lab results to me.  I don't really know what these numbers mean but it scares me that they appear to be very high.  I think one of these numbers indicates chronic infection and the other acute.  No wonder I feel awful all the time.

Should I reduce NAC dose even further? [6]

  • NAC [7]

I'm not sure what to do.  I was on a modified version of the Vandy protocol (since 10-01-07).  However, for the last 2 months I've been on hold, only takiing I-Methionine (another amino acid that acts much like NACi [7]) to at least keep the EBi [8]'s down.  I made the decision to get back on the Vandy protocol and I restarted NAC 5 days ago.  I began with 600mg 2xday.  <!--break-->Since I'd been on the antibiotics and I-Methionine for so long, I thought I could easily begin with 2 NAC per day.  Evidently the I-Methionine doesn't hit the EB's as well as NAC.  I began getting sick last night with the same symptoms I've had with each die off response-flu like headache, eyes burning and very dry, dizzy headed, upper respiratory cough, tight chest, cold (

Response to Treatment [9]

Can anyone help me figure out what is going on?  My doc uses a protocol patterned after the Vandy one.  I started CAPi [12] on 10-1-08 after testing positive for CPni [13] anti bodies.  After I was up to full dose of NACi [7], Doxycline (100mg-2/day), and Cipro (250mg-2/day) for 2 weeks, I began 6 weeks of pulses.  His pulses merely consisted of alternating days on and off meds.  Then(following his CAP) I took a 2 week holiday.  During this first round of meds, I was very ill each time I increased a dose or added a med.  My illnesses did mirror the symptoms I've experienced for years with my Fibro/CFSi [14].
