Yesterday I had my several-times-a-year checkup. My doctor is ecstatic over my progress. He has been pleased almost since the beginning, but is now even more delighted.
We always have some discussions, but this time we talked about "autoimmune" diseasesi [13] in addition. I stated pretty flatly that I didn't think I believed in such a cause anymore, and to my surprise he agreed, saying that ALL of them, in his opinion, were infectious, and that possibly in twenty years or so, there will be a vaccine, and people won't have to go through what he has seen me do. And he paid me several nice compliments, saying that I was the most stubborn person he had ever known. And the book "Unbroken" (incredible!) about Louis Zamperini, which he was reading (I had told him about it), reminded him of me. An honorable compliment, to be sure, but we all come to understand what it can take to do this. Sometimes, you have to do the hard stuff. It's really nice when it pays.

Well, I might as well make a day of posting when I said I wouldn’t: Rica, times are slowly changing if your doctor is taking about vaccines and saying that auto-immunei diseasesi [13] have their roots in infection. My number one doctor obviously thinks that way as well, because I am married to him but my GP still seems a bit unsure, mainly due to her PPMSi [31] husband not improving. In his case it would have helped to take the medicine every day.
Cpni [20] was discovered to be a pathogen about three years after I developed MS, so having lived with it for all my adult life it would be nice to see the eradication of chlamydophila pneumonia in my lifetime. This isn’t impossible because it has happened already with smallpox: David was vaccinated but by the time I was old enough, it was no longer necessary.................... Sarah
