Hello everyone and God bless
I just wanted to say that that im doing a lot better now since I started the zithro and doxyi [1] I have improved greatly over the last couple of months and I cant wait to start the Flygl. I guess you can say I was really sick and now im just sick. I just had some questions for anyone willing to answer. First I am really looking forward to the Flaygl. Can anyone give me some input on how much wieght is put on this antibiotic. It seems from reading about it that it is a knock out punch to the cpni [2]. I would greatly appreciate some input on anything to do with this. Also currently we all know about the supplementsi [3] to take which are great! But does anyone have any input on specific diets that help a lot. I currently eat a lot of fish and vegatable and fruit. and try to stay away from red meat. But does anyone know of specific foods I should be eating. and does anyone have a routine diet. I would greatly appreciate input on that. Also I started excercising again a couple of weeks ago and im now running 2-3 miles a day. Is this a sign that im getting better becuase I still feel sick off and on so I quess what im wondering is if anybody here is excersicing and what kind of routines they do that help them. And last the worst for me is the early morning. I drink a couple cups in the morning becuase im so fatigued. But I switched to green tea last week and it helps even though I like my coffee in the morning its hard to give up. I guess im just anxiouse about getting better as everyone else is.

Congratulations on getting
Congratulations on getting going with the exercise program. I have seen posts on this site where others have observed that as people get better, they blog less (becuase they presumably now feel like doing something other than sitting in front of a computer) so I would say the fact you feel like running is evidence of some improvement.
There are reports that the Swank diet (http://www.swankmsdiet.com/ [7]) developed by Dr. Roy Swank in the 1940's helps. The book that describes the diet is available on amazon.com. I have not tried the diet myself so I can't say anything about it.
I have a friend I have known since college who is a personal trainer. He had been trying to get me to work out for years and I kept putting him until after I had my first M.S. exacerbation. The plan he developed for me involves changes to my diet and exercise (weightlifting and walking). The objective isn't to affect the course of the M.S., but to get me healthier so I can better stand up to the rigors of the disease and better tolerate the side-effects of the CAPi [8]. I won't bore you with the details (if you want those, send me a private message).
I think the key is moderation. CPni [2] "steals" energy from your cells so it is easy to get depleted and you want to avoid that. Do too much, too fast and you can wear yourself out or hurt yourself. If that happens, you lose ground waiting to heal. My friend says two things that relate: "This is a marathon you're going to run for the rest of your life" and "It truly is a race where the tortise wins".

It's awesome that you are exercising again!
Being able to run again is a dream for many here. You might consider adding in some yoga or other form of stretching type exercise. This can help energy and the antibioticsi [12] move into more areas of your body. Also, water/pool based exercises can be very good as well without stressing joints.
Re the Flagyli [6] - It may or may not knock you for a loop and that can even vary by pulse. Good luck and Good healing !

If you're running 2-3 miles
If you're running 2-3 miles a day that is absolutely fantastic!
And your diet sounds about perfect. I had attended a seminar back in March 2007, by a nutritionist Dr. Sharon R. Price. It was strictly about how and what foods cause pain. - and why It was very eye opening! I stuck to her advice and besides losing about 20 pounds - was finally able to sit without feeling tortured. She emphasized avoiding red meats, fat, fried foods, sugar, dairy, tobacco, caffeine, most grains, and sticking with white meats and fish, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and nuts. (Very limiting, I know!) She said green tea is very good. She also recommended adding ginger to your diet every day, adding it to the green tea is an option, and is supposed to help with sleep. She has a book "Health and the Domino Effect". She also now has a cookbook "Culinary Creativity". Her website is http://www.nutritionaldirection.com/en/Home.aspx [13]
My physical exercise is just physical therapy and water aerobics. I hope to be able to do more some day.

Hi Lee, Great you're doing
Hi Lee,
Great you're doing so good on the CAPi [8] so far. I haven't added pulsing yet myself as I've only been on the full doses of Z+M for a little less than a month but let me just give you some food for thought:
1. I began to feel better as I started the antibiotics (again, since I was on a different protocol before) and I believe it has something to do with the stirring up of the bacteria and causing an increase in cellular energy to begin with until die off begins. I think some of the good feeling also comes from the daily dosing abxi [12] that help give some modulation to the immunei [16] system and reduction of inflammationi [17] but that changes as the bacteria weakens.
2. As time is moving on, (started NACi [5] 3/08) I'm beginning to feel some symptoms returning of die off and secondary porphyriai [18]. So although I was well enough in May and June to do alot more than I had been doing, I'm now suffering from days of chronic fatigue again. It's all part of the healing process and I think it's good to be prepared not to expect or demand too much too early. I think this can feel like relapse and be frustrating if you're not prepared for the increase of sxs from die off, but I think it's all part of the healing process. I've learned over the years that I have good times and bad times and have to roll with it. Right now, it's more bed rest and less daily activity but that will change in time no doubt.
3. It has helped me immensely to add the guidelines listed HERE [19] of the secondary porphyrian diet, increasing carbs although I still try to eat low glycemic index and complex carbs as much as possible. I used to eat a little less in the way of carbs but as others have mentioned we have special needs due to our chronic infection and so we need to be able to produce more energy since our cells get robbed of it. Folks have often commented that the SP becomes more of a concern once you begin the Flagyli [6] pulses so I think you might have to watch and treat for that.
Please let us know how the Flagyl pulsing affects your activity level. I'm very curious. I've opted to start with Tindamax and I'm planning on starting with a one day pulse soon.

Don't believe everything you think!Wow Lee, that is awesome
Wow Lee, that is awesome news -- running 2-3 miles YOI!
When you start pulsing the flagyli [6] you may have to adjust your regimen of exercise, increase the die off remedies & moppers as your body will be doing some serious healing & cleansing after knocking out more CPni [2].
that is not the worst thing though for long term gain!
Blessings

Hi Lee,
Glad you feel much better!
But I must say I think running with an infection can be dangerous.
It can be to hard for your body and heart. Infection can also go to your heart.
And exercise can also make porphyriai [25] worse.
So with an infection no hard exercise should be done. Better to wait and use that energy for healing the body.
Thats my opinion and what I learned in my work as a PT.
Just wanted to share that.
But anyway is glad that you feel much better and hope you continue to feel better every day!
Take care,
Maria
