Well, for completely unknown reasons the default Theme for cpnhelp, called Fancy, broke! It would no longer display the tabs at the top for the primary links. So, I've temporarily replaced it with another as the site default.
We are working on a really beautiful, easy to use new theme but it requires a lot more configuration before it's usable, and it's Saturday, and I've spent way too long in front of the computer today!
If you can't get the links, go to 'my account/edit" and select either Marvin, Chameleon, or Blue Marine.

I rather like the clean
I rather like the clean look of this one but there are some odd things going on, like typing this, I'm about 30 pixels from the top of the box and around 20 pixels in from the left. The text is tiny too.
Ah, Yes!! I'm Blue (or is
Ah, Yes!! I'm Blue (or is this just the new CPNhelp theme). I must say there is something strangely pleasing about this look...........it's calming, I think.
Something odd happened, but
Something odd happened, but I like the end result! My page changed on its own from a black and white very drab plain layout to what I think may be the "blue marine" layout. When I go to my account to look for other layout selections, I can't find any. Has this changed now? TIA
I changed the default
Blue Marine seems to work
Blue Marine seems to work too, and I get to see the whole of the sentence about Cpni [1] at the top of the page, although all the tabs are small and stacked in two rows.
I'm still having to enable rich text when writing a comment. Is it something I'm not doing in my profile that results in this?
Also using this theme my comments appear in italic once posted although not when I am writing it.
Correction, just switched back to Garland and the italic post is still there, so nothing to do with the theme...
The blue hurts my eyes, but
The blue hurts my eyes, but I like the tidier layout.
Gee Jim, sounds like you
Gee Jim, sounds like you need some rest! This is fine on my end and fucntional for the time being...

Wow! I love the blue. So
Wow! I love the blue. So soothing, and yet clean and clear. The top bar is perfect.
Thanks.
You did a great job with this.
Ohh. I just saw the note
Ohh. I just saw the note above from someone with tender eyes. I have my monitor brightness adjusted down. That might help, if not already tried.
For my eyes, I love the blue background to compose my post. It's much less strain than a white background while typing.
And the system lets me add a line of white space to make short paragraphs.
Much better with clear typing font, too. The size works well right now. Although, it is easy (if on a MAC) to just hit the apple key and the + or (-) key to change type for composing or reading. It won't affect the size that goes on line for others to see.
Same here, My Account /
Same here, My Account / Edit doesn't provide any way to change the layout. Also, signature block isn't automatically coming up on comments. I'll adapt to anything, but was quite satisfied with the layout of the site as it was.
Okay, I'll be honest.....
Okay, I'll be honest..... I'm all for improvements, but I rather liked the font and colors of our old site -- with the blue, we're not "unique" we look like most other sites on the Net. It is also, for me, a bit hard on the eyes as well.
Also, the font size is (for me) a bit too small and I can't increase through the IE . (and I wear reading glasses when I'm on the computer). I do appreciate all of the time, effort and hard work!
Ditto font size and I like
Ditto font size and I like more color; but, hey, Jim, I appreciate all your work so whatever you end up with is fine with me!

Thanks, all, for your
Thanks, all, for your understanding. I'll talk to the developer today and see if we can "un-break" the Fancy theme.
I'm ultimately gearing towards a new theme which is highly flexible and quite readable. Our aim is to have a redesigned frontpage (home page) that gives nice, clear boxes at the top that simplify things for all the new folks coming to the site and takes advantage of Michele's fine work in providing the First Steps, and following steps, booklets. The new theme also has drop-down menus that will help make a cleaner and less confusing look along the top of the screen getting rid of so many cluttered tabs. There is also an option to format the forums more like those of more familiar forum-based websites so that new people will not be as put off by them. And, hopefully, we will initiate a blog page link that presents blogs by disease category as well as by recent blog posts. That way people coming to the site with, say, MSi [2] would be able to see blogs specifically pertaining to this.
However, to keep all this with a cleaner look, there may be less options for all the different blocks like recent comments, active forum discussions, and such. I won't get much shaped up this week or so, but when I do I'll try and restore the option for members to select themes so you can all try it out and give feedback.
Thanks for your patience on this switchover. Every time we have to do something this major we risk a temporary mess, but I can tell you that the security improvements have been significant. While our spam filters were working well to prevent you all from seeing the posts, it didn't stop the spammers from sucking up our band-width, filling up the database with unpublished spam, and slowing down the website for all. I'm so relieved to be able to look at the site logs and see none of that junk, when before we would be under attack for hours at a time.
I am thrilled to see the
I am thrilled to see the "old" format somewhat back. Really do prefer it.
Must say I also preferred the general listing of ongoing discussions versus the categorization in the new format.
But just glad to see the old format back for the most part. It really is easier to read. I hope you will be keeping it as it is today.
Thanks,
denise
LOL, people always prefer
LOL, people always prefer the familiar. You're used to it Denise but for newbies it can be very confusing. The advantage to having a similar format to other sites is that people can get going very quickly.
What Jim and the Devs are trying to do is provide a site with options that's clearer than this one. Hopefully the new template will allow you to resize the text without breaking too.
I understand what you are
I understand what you are saying as it was quite confusing to me when I was new here. I just found the type in the new design hard to read and being lazy liked having all the discussions in one location.
Also, there is something to be said for retaining some of the old when new things are introduced.
For me, the site has

Im a newbie, I haven't got a clue what I am doing but I just want to say that I have read so much interesting relevenat information on this website. Because I'm not at all computer literate, I end up confused as soon as I turn turn the computer on... and I know, I've been told, the only way to learn is to keep on using it. I have MSi [2] and Im really fortunate that I'm taking the 3 antibiotics and all the supplementsi [4] so to have a website for people on the cpni [1] treatment is brilliant!! Not to sure what to do next? Think I have to 'post comment' so here goes...................... 10 minutes later I still haven't been able to post it.

Not sure what I have to do now? I think I have to post it....... I have been trying for the past half hour..says something about 'navigate away from page blah blah ok cancel' Here goes, I will try again.
Marj- First thing is go to
Marj- First thing is go to "my account/edit" an put in your signature information that has your condition, current abxi [5], etc. so people have a way of orienting to your posts. Then you might post a blog (create content/blog page) that outlines your story and what you are doing now, any starting questions.
The "are you sure you want to navigate away from this page..." is just a feature to keep people from switching to another page before they've posted their comment text. If you switch pages before you post text, you lose it! This is called an "autosave" feature in the text editor, but isn't so clear in the message it gives, sorry.
I haven't been able to be
I haven't been able to be on the site during all these tumultuous times of change as it just blows my mind when things don't work.
Ruthless, I hear your
Ruthless, I hear your frustration, I too have lost lengthy answers in the past. Time out has never been the reason for me, moving to quickly before the entire upload has completed has been my problem (in the distant past).
Have you tried Cholestyramine for energy improvement. I know you swear by chitosan and charcoal but I continue to be re-amazed by my once a day routine when I fall into the pit of porphoria fatigue, inertia and lack of brain power intermittently. Just this week 3 nights and I was dramatically better, last night was the 4th and I feel like a ball of fire now. (Yes I know I am not there really but in comparison I am upbeat and active once again.
So mull it over, it works for my fat soluable load they way nothing else has in the past.
And once I turn the corner I wean off and stop and I am good again for sometimes even more than one pulse.

Jim, I'm suffering.
Sorry you're suffering Mac,
Sorry you're suffering Mac, but I think you are one of the few.... I am hoping we have either a vote, or the ability to view the site as we so desire; i.e, the ability to select our individual themes ......
The blue was hard to read ..... and IMOi [6] boring, I guess I like the "circus" ambiance ( I believe that is what someone referred to "fancy" as LOL.... kinda goes with the protocol!
I realize we each have our own preferences -- I am hoping the selection is not a "slighted" vote :) If I am in the minority I'll have to live with it
Just my 2 cents...
