Hi to all!

I saw that some of you take ursodiol. Can someone tell me when to take and how much? Doesn t it absorb the abxi [1]?

I took it before I started the capi [2] and it helped great with not toxic feeling , but stopped because I thought it might absorbes the abxi [3].

Warmest regards from sunny Hamburg

Cesare

Cesare, my prescription says to take three capsules a day, but I only take 1 a day now that I am further along in my treatment. It can increase bowel movements at the higher dose. Hope this helps, Raven CAP since 8-05 for Cpni [6] and Mycoplasma P. for MSi [9] and/or CFSi [10] Also EBVi [11] and HHV6

Cesare, Urosodiol should not [14]

Submitted by Daisy on Mon, 2008-06-02 18:30.

Cesare,

Urosodiol should not appreciably effect your antibioticsi [1] as its mechanism of action is by reducing cholesteroli [15] synthesis and secretion and it alters bile composition.   It doesn't so much "absorb" like Questran as it does "thin" the bile.

The package insert drug interactions are

  • cholestyramine (Questran);
  • colestipol (Colestid);
  • estrogens (birth control pills or hormone replacement); or
  • antacids that contain aluminum, such as Rolaids, Mylanta, or Maalox).
  • If you are using any of these drugs, you may not be able to use ursodiol or you may need dosage adjustments or special tests during treatment.

    Dosing is calculated per weight and doctor preference dependent.
