What's a guy got to do....?

  • Doxycycline
  • Flagyl
  • Multiple Sclerosis

What's a guy got to do to get a date with Dame Endotoxini [1], mistress of pain, following a pulse?  Was it something I said?  Was it something I did?  Was it all that charcoal?

Still, I'm five days after pulse number eight with no adverse reaction to speak of.  This is now two pulses with no post-pulse reaction.

Well, if nothing else, by going "stag" to the flagyl pain party I can serve as proof that flagyl doesn't have to flatten you.

hd,  What's your temperature?  You might have had a "blind date" and didn't know it.  If your temperature is lower than normal, that's surely what happened.  Dame Endotoxini [1] is a cold bitch.

Submitted by Sarah on Thu, 2008-05-15 12:33.

HD, apart from the blind date to think about, I feel that going on my experience, flagyli [4] doesn't always equate with pain.  With me it only did once, but that was pulse six if I remember rightly.................Sarah

Ever since I was a child, normal has been 97.8 degrees (F) and that's what I am right now (I just went and took it so I could answer your question and I use the same mercury thermometer each time to ensure consistency).

Submitted by BobO on Thu, 2008-05-15 14:50.

Horse, cholestyramine is a resin that selectively binds to fat-soluble substances in your digestive tract. It was originally created to remove cholesteroli [21], but has come into off-label use as a way to remove fat-soluble toxins before they can be re-absorbed and re-cycled. Not sure who was originally credited with its use for that purpose, but Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker has been one of its more vocal proponents...primarily for the removal of mycotoxins in mold-related illness. Turns out to be pretty handy in other chronic diseasesi [22] for the same purpose.

I still haven't had a bad reaction to flagyli [4]. Heck, even my monthlong flagyl pulse brought minimal (though noticeable, at least) reaction. Hdwhit, can you wait 32 months like I have???? Even without huge distress, I've had great improvements.

MacK, have you always been on ALL the supplementsi [19] and taking the porphyriai [17] stuff as a preventative? I ask because I am and so far I've had little problem. Admittedly I'm not taking Flagyli [4] yet but the other abxi [27] have only resulted in minimal reactions.

Submitted by hdwhit on Fri, 2008-05-16 08:12.

There's a whole section on this in the CPni [7] Handbook and I can't summarize it and do it justice in a blog posting, so I'll just point you to it.

In addition to charcoal for removing fat-soluble toxins, I also use WelChol.  It is a bile acid sequestrant like Questran, but it comes in pill form rather than as a powder and that can make it more convenient to take.

Submitted by MacKintosh on Fri, 2008-05-16 10:37.
Andesine, I started the supps three to four weeks ahead of the antibioticsi [27], only because I had to wait for prescriptions and for an allergy test to make sure I was good with azithromycin. I've always taken everything on Dr. Wheldon's supplementsi [19] list except evening primrose oil, which I gave up early on. (One too many huge capsules to swallow and it seemed redundant to fish oil.) I have never done anti-porphyric remedies and have an untouched two year old bottle of charcoal and a bottle of glucosamine tabs to prove it. The most I've ever resorted to (and that was only for the first few months) was extra CoQ10, which always made me feel less crummy almost instantly. Here's hoping it continues the same way for you!
