Appealing to self-interest

I've been trying to persuade editors and doctors, especially my own doctors, that CPNi [1] is the scourge of the Century, contributing to the morbidity and mortality of millions of people. So far my results have been pathetic. ___A couple of weeks ago I stumbled onto an article about the National Business Group on Health. The NBGH is an association of large businesses trying to reduce their health costs. From their website, I've deduced that it is a hardnosed, no-nonsense group ___I've been working for two weeks on a package to send them. It's a difficult task because I want to get their attention without making them think I'm a crackpot. My requests for information from this group in the last few days were for data to go the the NBGH. ___Editors and doctors hate errors more than they love truth, so they are a particularly hard group to sell new information to. Businessmen, on the other hand, are motivated to make money, and this gives them a predisposition to seek truth almost as diligently as they try to avoid error. With this in mind, I decided that I ought to start approaching individual businesses as well as business associations like the NBGH. ___MacKintosh asked: "What can we do to help?" ___I don't know, but I'm open to suggestions. Russ, Well, the easiest way

Russ, Well, the easiest way to get people's attention is to get their attention. I've sent two packets of info to Oprah and one to an actor with a particular interest in curing MSi [6]. It's only been six weeks since the second Oprah package went out and I'm hoping that will get some attention for the issue. Had I thought to broach it from an insurance standpoint, that would have been another 'hook', since insurance costs are such a hot-button topic these days. The actor would be a gift, if he pursues this. He would be someone with a built-in podium for the info. If I, or Jim, or David Wheldoni [7], is contacted by Oprah or the actor, I'm sure wedging you in as confirmatory documentation is the obvious next step.

Hi MacKintosh. Oprah is pretty hard to reach. I've written to her producers twice, and never received a reply. There's a credibility barrier to overcome. For example, I get a fair amount of mail from crackpots. Two years ago a lady wrote to warn me about the dangers of fluoroquinolones. I blew her off because I thought Cipro was working fine for me. I developed a lot of nasty new health problems, though, and eventually traced them back to Cipro. ...Oprah's producers must get an enormous amount of mail from crackpots, and it is very difficult to hit just the right note that piques their interest without setting off their crackpot-alarms. Ive thought of calling oprah on this as well... its too bad Montel isnt still around, I was going to ask him to pay for my dental surgery since he mentioned teeth issues in MS in the past if i remember correctly. Mind you hes probably long gone done and completed his cap years ago and now living  happily ever after

He's shilling for big pharma these days. I wouldn't ask him to do spit regarding antibiotic therapy.

Hi Clammed_up. The upper-echelon of celebrities is hard to reach without a "hook" of some sort. I've been making a list of mid- and low-level celebrities to contact. There are two obese cops on Cold Case, for example, who probably aren't deluged with fan mail, and I may be able to reach them. ___I'm also planning to write to obese former superstars. Montel isn't obese, but if he was treated by a CAPi [13], he might be a good person to write to, even if he works for big pharma now. Whats meant by "big pharma"?

Whats meant by "big pharma"? Meaning he's supporting drug companies and not capi [13] or infection as a cause? If that were the case that would make him full of it because I clearly remember him mentioning dental infection and mercury fillings etc. Mind you, if a drug company were to offer me a cure proposition, I might be selfish enough in my suffering that I would become a hypocrit as well, all in the name of nothing more than my own desperation. I think anyone would do what they have to do to stop thier suffering if its bad enough.

Hi MacKintosh. I can't remember which company Montel does ads for, but chances are good that it makes an antibiotic. Big Pharma isn't monolithic, and drug companies compete fiercely. What is meant by big pharma

What is meant by big pharma is 'big pharmaceutical companies'. As an entity. As a force that controls much of the research, development, production, dissemination, prescriptions, etc., surrounding legalized drugs. They have their own agenda and it's usually not your or my best interests, particularly if it negatively affects their huge bottom line. By the way, Montel has taped his last show already.
