Dental Abcess & CAP

  • Roxithromycin

Paula is being seen by a dentist today because of a tooth abcess she has.  It is possible that the dentist may recommend a course of Amoxi.  If so, would you advise Paula stops the NACi [1] during the course of Amoxi to stave off doubling the die-off effects of the CPni [2] EBs?

Yes, I'd say that was wise. Amoxycillin and NACi [1] do the same job on EBs, the advantage of NAC over Amoxy is that it supports the liver.

Thanks Michelle.  The dentist didn't advise Amoxi afterall, but continue with the Roxi, as Roxi is good for dental infectionsi [13].

But she is tolerating 2400 mgs of NACi [1] AND Roxyi [14]. Good news. I bet the tooth will improve soon.

 

Rica PPMSi [15] EDSSi [12] 6.7 at beginning - now 2. Began CAPi [9] Sept, 2004 with Rifampin 150 mg 2xd, Doxyi [3] 100 mg 2xd, added regular pulses Jan 2005. Jan 2006 switched to Doxy, Azith, cont. flagyli [10] total 50 pulses NC USA

Mark,  As a bad tooth can make your entire body sick, I hope this resolution will help her feel better soon.  Then she'll only have to contend with the ups and down of the CAPi [9] journey.  Best wishes,
