Yes, I broke into my stash of INHi [1] from last fall and took my very first dose of INH tonight with my second dose of Rifampin for the day, hence the Rifampinianaut. Isoniazid is the full name of INH and I just couldn't bring myself to label myself the Rifampiniazid. Of course, if one want's to be completely accurate, I would have to also work in Doxycycline, Azithromyocin, N-Acetyl Cysteine, and Metronidazolei [2]. Hmmm....the Metroxyzithricetylfampiniazid, lol!!! O-kee, D'O-kee, I think not, lol
In any case, I went ahead and started the INH tonight. I figured that taking it in the afternoon with my second dose of Rifampin would work best in terms of scheduling. Since it's a 1 dose a day prescription, I can't exactly fit it into the morning easily so this makes the most sense.
I finished my 22nd pulse on Wednesday of last week. Nothing new to report, it went right on by just as smoothly as ever, thus my recent questions about INH and my interest in it. But, I've made the leap so I'm good for another 30 days or so.
Jim K mentioned that INH and Flagyl are both "pro-drugs", if I recall correctly. I know the label on the prescription of INH says that you cannot drink alcohol with it, which is kind of a bummer, but then, I haven't been drinking at all so I guess it's nothing too different from what I've been doing. I did drink twice last year, a single drink on two occasions, but that was it. It does open up a single guy's social life if he can do that, but I'll manage.
Actually, I forgot that I know I'll be engaging in a social event probably in two weeks where alcohol will be a must. I invited a friend to go to a wine boutique and do a wine tasting. Consequently, I may stop the INH a few days beforehand and pick it back up a few days after. Even though I'm only contemplating drinking a very small amount of alcohol, I would prefer to minimize any risk that I can of causing liver problems.
Oh, also, I should mention that I have been regularly taking Annotto Tocotrienols. I try to take it daily but sometimes forget. I typically take them in the afternoon either shortly before my second dose of Rifampin or with it. Tonight I took it togehter with the Rifampin, INH, and NAC all at the same time. I don't know whether the antioxidanti [3] affect of the NAC and Tocotrienols are going to reduce the efficacy of the Rifampin and INH and it might be good to know that if anyone reading knows.

It all depends where you "shop". You could look for a church that frowns on drinking, join their singles group and nobody would think twice about the fact that you're not drinking. It worked for my cousin and it worked for me.

I took a lower dose of INHi [1] for over a year and never had any problems with a glass of wine on occaision. I'm not sure if it has the same emetic affect as Flagyli [2] and alcohol. Anyone else with experience in this?
