Fucoidan: Stem cell Enhancement and Anti Viral Properties

As I noted in my blog, I tested high for HHV6 and last year battled EBVi [1]. I have been looking for supplementsi [2] that might help. I ran across Fucoidan, an extract from brown seaweed that has antiviral properties. Just received this newsletter today that had an article about Fucoidan. Seems it stimulates the release of adult stem cells from the bone marrow. This looks promising for repair of damage from Cpni [3] and other infectionsi [4]. Here's the link for the article: http://www.vrp.com/articles.aspx?page=LIST&ProdID=2254&zTYPE=2 [5] BTW, since I have been taking it for the last month, I have felt better. I also added Olive Leaf extract---a dropper a day in licorice tea. And cranberry extract--another purported anti viral. Raven CAPi [6] since 8-05 for Cpn and Mycoplasma P. for MS and/or CFSi [7]

Raven, I had read a few months ago about Fucoidan being an emerging natural supplement for weight loss and also an anti-cancer agent......makes sense it would go after the CPNi [3]!  Thanks for the info.

I really don't know about

Submitted by raven on Sun, 2008-03-09 17:51.
I really don't know about it going after Cpni [3]. I didn't find anything about that. What I did find was the anti viral information. This is what I was after. Seeing this new information about adult stem cells being stimulated by Fucoidan just seemed like such an incredible bonus! So there you go. I'm glad I was able to share this and hope it turns out to be as good a supplement as it seems. If anyone else wants to try it, chime in and let us know what results you get.   This seems just the thing [19]

Submitted by Sarah on Tue, 2008-03-11 11:17.

This seems just the thing to add to my battery of antioxidantsi [11] now that I am starting painting with oils again.  I can' say I need it for its anti-viral properties but anything that encourages the release of one's own stem cells must be a good thing and beats being injected with any other ones hands down.  (Not that I was considering this, by the way.)  The article mentions heart health as well, so DW can take it as well!

I read an article in Scientific American last year entitled "Do stem cells cause cancer?"  Well, obviously they can since they are undifferentiated cells that have the potential to develop into other more specialized cells, so best to encourage them to do something useful...........Sarah

Hi Daisy. So far, so good

Submitted by raven on Sun, 2008-08-24 11:55.

Hi Daisy. So far, so good in terms of the viral infectionsi [4]. I have had a few twinges of what I interpret as a viral effect, but so far the energy level is really great and I think that is the one factor that is most telling.

I am still taking Fucoidan (one capi [6] a day) as well as a cap of Cranberry extract. I also drink a mix of black and green decaf tea every day. If I do feel kind of low,I drink a cup of licorice tea with a dropper of olive leaf extract. Goes after the fungi and yeast. The licorice tea is very soothing to me--I have heard it counteracts high cortisol. It was my remedy of choice before I knew anything about Cpni [3].

BTW, I am very interested in the use of Iodoral against viruses. I have had excellent result with a HV Simplex outbreak that was stopped in its tracks in hours by 75 mgs of Iodoral! The iodine docs recommend 100 mgs a day for anti bacterial and anti viral effect. I know my doctor is talking to them and using this approach at this time. Also they advocate taking B2 and B3 with the iodine.

I usually take 50 mgs a day.

Raven - Thanks for the update.  Like others here - I pay close attention to your posts - you are usually on to something!

I too am taking a strong interest in Iodoral.  The science in PubMed is pretty good.  I was getting ready to finally take some antibioticsi [29] myself after a year of sauna, immunei [30] building, yeast reducing, etc...but now want to see what happens in my own little N=1 with Iodoral 100mg QD plus B's.  I have been studying and am highly intrigued.  Thanks for leading this horse to water!!!!
