One thing you can't do at Cpnhelp.org

We have gotten to be a chummy and even relentlessly helpful website. All to the good, but sometimes we forget some of the basic agreements we have here, so I thought I'd post a commentary to remind us. When you joined you checked off your compliance with Site Terms and Usage and I would urge you to review those terms from the link I've given.

The most important reminder, especially from me as site owner, is to help calm my already anxious and somewhat neurotic nature, prone to panic (I'm a therapist, remember?):

  • WE DO NOT ADVOCATE ON THIS WEBSITE FOR PEOPLE TO TREAT THEMSELVES!
  • WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT PEOPLE DON'T TREAT THEMSELVES, AS THIS IS A MEDICAL TREATMENT AND REQUIRES MEDICAL OVERSIGHT, AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO SEEK APPROPRIATE MEDICAL TREATMENT!

This is a serious liability and ethical issue, not the least of them being that the site owner could be held liable if someone is harmed by such a recommendation. It is also tantamount to practicing medicine without a license.

This is a site where users report their own experiences: you can inform someone that you are self-treating or that you have heard that some others have been driven to that solution. But you may not recommend such a course of action. Interestingly, one may practice medicine without a license on oneself, just not on someone else.

good job & thanks
