For those who have been reading about my progress, I have a report that will amaze even the cynic in you.
When I awakened yesterday morning I immediately thought, "I could run today." I have never thought that for years and why this day I do not know. I guess I was feeling a surge of strength and energy and made me think of running. I have been having running dreams for the last couple weeks off and on so maybe it was that. Anyways, I shared this feeling with my husband when he called home from his work at lunchtime to check in. When he got home from work, we had dinner and then he said, OK, lets for for a run. I have seen him run as he goes often and I could never imagine that I would ever run again in my whole life, let alone with him. We did some stretching then with his coaching, I started out very cautiously and slowly. I RAN!!! FOR OVER TWO BLOCKS!! Ya, ya, it was a slow jog, but it was a run, with no walking aides and no arm holding. (It was just a couple weeks ago that my husband said that I had to try to walk without holding his arm for at least a half a block.) After the two blocks of jogging, my left foot started to drop a bit and I became very scared that I was going to trip. We slowed to a walk and I was puffing pretty good. We continued our walk for a few more blocks and then I sat on a bench and waited while my husband did his run. We hooked up again on his return and walked the rest of the way home.
This may or not wow you, but to me, I never ever expected to run again. I have not done any kind of jog or run for over four years. Considering that I was SPMSi and unable to walk more than a little around the house, I am stoked!! Now I am waiting for the morning where I waken and think, I could ride a bike today. Something I have not done for years.
I won't overdo it, but I will run again. My husband is a wonderful motivator and my children the cheering squad!
I thank God for giving us the wisdom to find this treatment!!

Not just a one run
Not just a one run wonder.
Just an update, I went out last evening and did a repeat and a little more. I must emphasize that we are not talking about a full out run. We are speaking of jogging and not even a fast jog. I do have the flattest feet possible so running has never been my thing, but to even get my body to function in a run of any kind is what is blowing my mind. My feet are sore today and even throb a bit, but no foot drop, no body aches and fatigue.
Thanks everyone for your encouragement and words of support. It is indeed a wonderful thing. I truely hope that this is just a foreshadowing of good things to come.

Bless your soul dear child!
Bless your soul dear child! Now just spread the wealth to the rest of us. I'm beginning to feel better too.
I just finished a (for once) uneventful pulse. But I'm still sitting indoors with a still healing broken ankle while everyone else glories in the beautiful weather, goes swimming or to 4th of July barbeques or works in the garden or whatever and then goes to fireworks tonight and I just got off Prozac (which gives you osteoporosis) and I AM PISSED! Or at least frustrated. Ah me. I have been a Sagitarrian without the fire for 7 years. The newfound anger will be stimulating. Maybe I'll run it off.

Arttile, you might want to
Arttile, you might want to wait until your ankle heals before you try running off your anger. Sorry that you have to miss the good stuff this summer. I too am a Sagitarrian and even though I do not subscribe to astrology beliefs, just a reminder, Sagitarrians are truth seekers. I guess sometimes it takes years to find the truth. Maybe now you are heading in the right direction and soon you will be glorying in whatever you choose.
I hope to start intermitant after July and August's pulses if all goes as planned. I still hate pulsing even though they are uneventful. I hate taking pills and the sooner that ends, the better.
Here's hoping that you get your fire back. It takes too much energy to be angry, so don't stay there too long.
Love Todybear.

Actually Tody, I LIKE the
Actually Tody, I LIKE the anger. It's been years and it didn't feel like me. A real nice surge of anger gets me going and helps me make art. When I first started the Prozac I noted that i had less energy. I discovered that without nervous energy, there wasn't much else. Anyway, I worked on the art today, went to dinner with friends and saw "Gran Torino". Not too flimsy.
Tomorrow I'll go back to a fuller pt regime (I've been pulsing) and hope to be back on a cane (instead of a walker) in another week.
It turns out that the local fireworks this year were at the college I teach. Oh well.
Love,
Nancy

I must say it is good for me and like Nancy it is good for my art: so what if I can't run because I can kick and throw at full force without falling over and my aim is excellent.

Pulse time so going to lay
Pulse time so going to lay off the jogging for a few days. I find that pulsing makes me short tempered and emotional as well as needing a lot more rest. I think I will return to my walks for now as my family are the ones that end up suffering my emotional fallout. My husband does not appreciate my outbursts and my shortness of patience.
I think I am on pulse number 13 now. My husband and I find that wherever I really feel the pulse is where I get the greatest improvements in the coming month. My feet still get it during the pulse sometimes but that has two sides. Sure it is crappy to endure but then we know that some kind of improvement is not it's way. After a year of this I have found that trend. Also, after a year I have discovered that one does not need to be a martyr. Just let your family and friends know that you are occupied with the process and they can fend for themselves. They will still love you and they will definately survive. Ya, they will get ticked at you, but they will get over it.
Talk to you soon.

The process as you call this
The process as you call this Tody, is perfect. How to get anyone to be on the same wave length as me, seems to the most major hurdle ,I am facing.
Yes, I am talking about my immediate family, none of whom are even at home with me.
That is why this website is so important. The feeling of aloneness is quite unbearable a lot of the time.
Keep on going and thank you Tody.

My dear Loulou,
This can be a lonely journey at times and I feel you sadness. You should keep your head held high because you have a fighting spirit that will get you to the mountain top.
I have a dear friend who also has neurologicl lyme disease and has endoured the lonelyness of friends and family not understanding her illness. She is a fighter and my best cheer leader and yet she has her own struggles.
Maybe you could find a lyme group in your area, after all they can understand how you feel and it could bring new friendships into your life.
My friend is envolved in a group and it's been very helpful to her and family.
you do have many here who care and are glad to see your posts.
