Not for the Squeamish - Before and Current MRI Views 2006 to 2008

Am going to attempt to start posting some of the before and current MRI views.

Since I am hogging the site today (sorry), I am going to wait to post any of the other views demonstrating clear improvement and also for posting some of the worst views - June 2007.

For perspective, very seasoned neurologists have visibly blanched after looking at my husband's MRI's.  He also sports the deficits that you might imagine go with them.

The original crainiotomy pathology indicated that the inside of the original lesion which appeared as a solid golf ball sized mass was in fact a sac containing what appeared to be a honeycomb like structure of the consistency of cobwebs filled with microcysts and a preponderance of foamy macrophages and neutrophils.   Acid blue stain revealed evidence of demyelinationi.

Asking 35 different physicians - all told me - it was not infection.  Several told me blatantly that I was wasting both my and their time.  A couple tried to placate me out of friendship.  The 36th agreed with me that my husband's brain didn't just wake up one day and do this to itself.

All this being said, people may look at these and think - wow - that guy will never be the same.  Well - he might not BUT the recovery he has made so far is pretty remarkable and my instincts say we aren't done yet.

Only time, some more innovation and some luck will really tell the true outcome of my husband's recovery.  Also, the disease has to stay arrested and dare I even say - be cured?

These images are remarkable,

These images are remarkable, especially the last two, how can anyone pretend these differences can be put down to artefacts or incompetence.   There are so many pictures and all of them show improvement.

Very encouraging.  By the way I've ordered the Brain that changes itself.   There might be a few revelations about improving balance and fatigue in it.

Michele - Glad you ordered the book - I think you will enjoy it and find many useful ideas.  It's also definitely a book of hope.  A whole new world has been opened for me.

Re the balance - look for the stuff on barefeet as well as the cross crawl.  We started with them today.

Daisy, These are so encouraging - what a huge difference - thanks for posting. I have a question on the Brain book - does it tell you what to do as you said you were working on the crawl for balance - if so, I need this book :) On Wheldon protocol for MSi since April, 2006.  doxyi 200 mgs daily, zithromax 250 mgs 3x/ week , Flagyli Pulses start end Sept., LDNi 2004. Gad-enhanced MRI of brain and spine shows NO NEW DISEASE ACTIVITY and one lesion diminishing in size on 9/30.

 Wiggy - The book

 Wiggy -

The book unfortunately doesn't tell you what to do.  It's really an overview of what is now known on a scientific level about the brains ability to reoganize around areas of defect or around entirely missing areas.  The field of science is called neuralplasticity.

I got a considerable eye opening from the book on what is possible as well as a ton of ideas from it on where to go with my husband to attempt increases in function and rehab.

The cross crawl is an exercise I have known about forever (wuwu medicine) that legitimate researchers have discovered improves balance by better synching the right and left hemisphers of the brain through strengthening those neuronal networks.

It's simple - here's how from a website instruction on the exercise.

HOW TO CROSS CRAWL

- if you can stand safely then just touch your right elbow to your left knee and then your left elbow to you right knee.

- do this exercise slowly and take your time.

- it gets easier as you do it and you will notice positive changes as you do this exercise.

- do it for 5 minutes a day everyday until you feel like you can do more reps.

- this is rehab therapy not the gym so do not try to be a super star athlete.

- your doctor should have no issue with you doing this exercise but ofcourse if you feel the need to double check than please do so.

FOR A DISABLED PERSON OR CHILD

- have a person more the disabled person knee slowly to the elbow and repeat on the other side

- go slow and only do a few each day. it is working

- let their doc know that you want to do this exercise on them. it is harmless to do but always keep track of rehab therapy with your doc.

ALSO YOU CAN DO THIS ON THE FLOOR EVEN IF YOU ARE ABLE BODIED

- just lie flat on your back and touch your right elbow to your left  knee and then your left elbow to right knee.

- basically it is opposite knee to opposite elbow.

Thank-you Daisy, I will add this into my routine - I appreciate it - I think I will also get that book as I need a good read - it sounds uplifting! Now THIS is the Daisy we wanted back. I am so happy for you that you've found some even footing (no pun intended, but I left it there once I saw the irony) for yourself, as well as your husband. We've all learned we're loads stronger than we ever would have guessed a few years back, hmmm?

For me, that only comes in 12 month increments and in reality needs to hold for a minimum of 36 months.  Seriously - I am giddy with the improvement but this is still experimental.  It needs to hold over time.  Wonderously it will !

Also - my husband and I badly need some semblence of a livable life.
