Can't do the splits any more

Before I started all this pill popping I had some major problems with my fingers and thumbs. Every time I put my hands in water to do washing up, cleaning, hair washing or having a bath, half an hour later I could sit and watch my skin splitting open. It was like deep paper cuts and really, seriously painful.

The following day I could sit and watch as they healed up again. It was really that fast and the weirdest thing ever.

There was scarring all over my thumb pads, you couldn't see the prints any more, and scarring all along the sides of my fingers. I'd lost all sensitivity of touch due to the skin thickening.

I made several appointments at the Doctor's but of course by the time I got there they'd have healed again.

I saw a skin specialist who was a locum at the surgery and she pronounced dermatitis and gave me an aqueous cream. I pointed out that the splits happened when I put my hands in water and aqueous= water so it wasn't going to help, but she insisted, so I tried it and was in agony for the week before giving it up as a bad job.

I bought hugely expensive aloe vera gels, specialist skin creams, ended up wearing rubber gloves full of the stuff in bed at night, nothing worked.

It occurred to me yesterday that I've spent the last few weeks happily washing up, hair washing, bathing and not a single split! I have a tiny dry and raised patch on one thumb but my fingers and the other thumb are completely clear. If CAPi does nothing else I'm eternally greatful that it's cleared that up.

You're in good company here

You're in good company here since DW's feet used to do exactly the same thing: deep and painful fissures, but now all healed.  For myself, if I cut myself I bleed gallons yet now, I still bleed as heavily but the wound heals almost overnight.................Sarah

I'm pleased you shared this

I'm pleased you shared this with us, we tend to forget the non focal healing that we get from  this treatment.   It was not the alopeciai that got me started on the treatment... but it was the alopecia getting better that told me I was on the right track.

I'm still waiting for some things to get better but knowing that the treatment works is what keeps me going.

And not only that, in your case it has relieved you of a very painful condition.

Ouch, I can't even imagine

Ouch, I can't even imagine how painful it would be to have those on your feet. I was in agony with my fingers and I didn't have to walk on those. There were times I seriously wondered whether I'd be better off without fingers they hurt so much.

It completely stopped me doing a hobby/sideline business I'd been doing for a while. I used to make miniature "antique" furniture replicas for the adult Doll's House market. Some of the pieces were selling for £300 or more but they were so fiddly that without feeling in my fingers I just couldn't hold the bits.

I still have all the tiny tools, drills, saws etc. When I get some time I might have to give it another go. Eyesight willling and assuming the Fog doesn't make me forget to do it.

Michele, it's one of the reasons I decided to keep the running blog on here and report back on all changes whether I thought they were related or not as it may be something somebody else has experienced and so we've found another fix for a "mystery" to the medical profession. I little expected the other experiencee to be the wonderful DW. WOW am I flying in high circles or what! Laughing
