new treatment question
Submitted by lee on Fri, 2008-05-09 07:30. I am switching to the new protocol. I read where it says to check the titres for cpni in the blood. My husband and I tested positive he for iggi and igm me for just igm. I don't understand how you can use this as a guideline. I never test positive unless it is after a pulse. Dr. W also states that negative titres mean little. Any help here?

Lee-whats the new protocol
I'm not sure exactly Lee,
I'm not sure exactly Lee, but I think Dr. Stratton is feeling a bit more confidence in the Mayo Clinic tests for Cpni, so he may be referring to titers with that reference point in mind. I also think that this would not apply to all cases, as David's comments about difficulties of measuring Cpn in MSi, even with samples of cerebrospinal fluid, still hold. Personally, I would trust my personal reactions, or lack of them, to the regimen antibioticsi more than a titer. Believe me, if you can do a course of rifabutin with no reaction, you are cooked and done!
