I don't know about local retail establishments, I get mine online at iherb.com or vitacost.com.   Even from the UK and with added local taxes and the shipping costs it is half the price of anything I can obtain locally.

The cap filler solution would work for calcium ascorbate and calcium pyruvate and d-ribose powders.  I like that term fiddly Michele!  I learn so much about the Queen's English and Britspeak from reading your posts.

I get most of my supplementsi from Swansons Vitaminsi. NACi is about $6 per 100.  The dosage level is 600 mg.
