Is anyone using Benicar for inflammation/ high blood pressure?

I was reading some old posts that some people were able to control some inflammationi issues using Benicar.

Can anyone who is using Benicar give me some feedback on it's effects. I would be very intrested if you had some improvements with inflammation with it's use.

Thanks again.... BonnieSmile

Along the same lines, there was an interesting article in science daily a few days ago about reversing MSi in mice using ACE inhibitors.  ACE inhibitors are close cousins of ARB's, such as Benicar.  Of course, we are not mice, and it remains to be seen whether this translates into an effective therapy for humans.  My concern might be that if the ACE inhibitors are acting by limiting inflammationi they might also be diminishing immunei response.  In an infectious disease model of MS this might mean palliation at the expense of further dissemination of the underlying infection.  Then again, maybe not, if the responsible pathogen is relying on NFkappaB and other pro-inflammatory cytokinesi as a trigger for reproduction.  I wonder if limiting inflammation while blasting the critters with ABXi might be a good combination, at least for those without major viral issues or bacterial resistance?  Maybe the responses to this thread will shed light on the clinical merit of this strategy.
Borrelia, Bartonella, RMSF, Babesia, Mycoplasma, Cpni, EBVi, HHV6. GFAi, FM, CFSi, seronegative Sjogren's, hypothyroid, diabetes, neuropathy, leukopenia, anemia, memory.  Bicillin 3xweek, Factive 5days 2xmonthly, LDNi, many supps/herbs
It depends on what the "inflammationi issues" are that you're trying to relieve. It did relieve my azi-induced high bp, chills, sweats, anxiety that my doc thinks may be related to increased inflammation. But it didn't seem to help relieve any pain from inflammation.

Azi induces hbp?  din't know that.  I'm already on an ACE inhibitor, Avapro for unusual HBP.  My top number is high, not the bottom number.... means the arterial pressure is too high cause my veins are constricted.

Probably cortisol is high too, and its probably related to my kidney function as well.  The more I read the more I wish I'd found this site a long time ago!!

The Marshal protocol uses Benicar, but i wonder if the whole class of ACE inhibtor drugs would be useful, with different molecular activity seen across different folks (yep, a medcine that works better for some than others...)

Okay, going to qit now.  Its late, and I'm really super tired.

opilot,  I sounds like you maybe having a lot of die off symptoms  from the NACi along with the Azithromycin.  Are you taking any moppers to help your body with toxins?

You may want to look into charcoal or cholestyramin. Your body needs help in toxin removal as much as possibe.

Hi Bonnie, Hoping to hear a blog update from you soon.  Today I see my MD to discuss my recent lab results and chart the ongoing treatment plan.  Should be interesting, I have a half hour with him and have done some thinking about the topics I need to be covered.  I have the lab results already so that is a good perspective from which to enter the conversation.

I will be blogging soon on the overview currently.   My b12 level was well over the reference range, guess the sublingual 5000mcg per day Methylcobalamine is being absorbed so I doubt that he will support B12 injections.  My 25-OH D was only 70ng/mL after 10 months on 10,000IU/day and some sun this summer too.    Louise

Louise, I wish you well with your appointment today. You seem to have everything in order to review with your doctor in regards to your ongoing treatment.

I will give everyone a blog update on a day my fuzzy brain is able to communicate. The brain fog can be overwhelming to say the least.
