Today I got my cpni antibodie test back. I never had so high antibodies before treatment. 6 - fold increase.
Why are the antibodies dueto cpn are increasing? is it due to treatment? Like when you stir the bugs up - the more antibodies you produce?
Any help would be great. Anyone else experienced increased antibodies to cpn while on treatment?
Currently I am on Rifampin 1x600 + Cipro 2x750 + tini for bartonella and cpn. I have done the regular wheldon protocoll for 9 months till 11/08 - I had to take a break for 2 month due to cdiff. Restarted with different protocoll due to bartonella coinfection.

Hi Cesare~I'm assuming it
Hi Cesare~
I'm assuming it is the same lab that was used for both tests....
Having a four fold increase or higher suggests active, current infection. So, it is a confirmation that Cpni is a problem for you.
My limited knowledge would be that taking the antibioticsi has allowed some Cpn to be killed off, allowing the antigens to break apart and your immunei system to recognize more of the Cpn, causing more antibodies to be produced, leading to the higher antibody titers.
Eventually, if the treatment is adequate, the antibody titers should drop to normal.
At least this is my understanding....
Best, Timaca

Cesare, my daughter's first
Cesare, my daughter's first test in Ocotber 2008 was 1:64 but on the test done just a few weeks ago it was 1:256. Her doctor took this as a positive sign that 1) the proper diagnosis had been made and 2) treatment has forced her immunei system to recognize the cpni infection. We were both hoping for this increase so it was good to see it.

Cesare, I had something
Cesare,
I had something similar when I first began CAPi where my antibodies increased then decreased again and now nearly a year later they are lower yet.
I'm experiencing what you're experiencing with the viral titers now, if you look at this thread. My viral titers are about 3 fold now (taking into acct lab differences) and higher than they've ever been in over a decade of being too ill to work.
I'm hoping it's a good sign as Timaca and worriedmom say, that this means my immunei system (the antibodies I'm producing) are combatting these bugs more now than ever and in time they will come down and drop lower than before treatment.
Patience I suppose.
