GliSODin Experiment

Just wanted to blog a little about our GLiSODin experimentation.  As reported before, we learned through some genetic testing, that my husband was likely a poor/low producer of Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD).  As SOD is a major antioxidanti handling free radicals, endotoxinsi and other toxins - we set out to improve that situation...

I learned of GliSODin from Red on this site but worried about the wheat protein in the GliSODIN so I tried to compound some transdermal SOD on my own.  I haven't quiet got it stable yet but I WILL get this one.  In the meantime, we tried the GliSODIn tablets.

Dosage was 500 mg a day for 3 days - well tolerated , then 1000mg a day for a week - well tolerated, then 1500 mg a day - well tolerated, then finally 2000 mg per day - fhmmmm.....  What I noticed right away, is that it took my husband's fatigue away.  He definitely seem to have more energy.  Seem to also help a little with his Guiness book of world records brain fog too.

After about a month at  2000 mg a day - I began to notice a couple of odd side effects.  They are as follows:

   - My husband's gray/white hairs that were popping up everywhere in on his head, facial hair and body hair  - are gone - yup - gone!  I think as the gray/white ones have fallen out over the past couple of months - new hair is dark black and shiny.  Based on this alone - I am now on SOD - gonna wash that gray right out of my hair ....  My husband's been on all other supplementsi forever - this is the only new one...

- Skin - rosy pink

- Euphoria - like that experienced with laughing gas at the dentist.  Extreme giggles, very happy go lucky, laughing with mirth until point of tears , laughing inappropriately (Kitchen stove caught on fire and husband laughed and laughed)  Depression and ill disposition gone.

After some consultation with Red here on CPNi - thanks again Red! - he experienced similar phenomena with GliSODin.  We have lowered my husband's dose now from 2000mg per day to 1000mg per day.  So far good effects and side effects remain but not quiet as giggly.

If you are interested - check out these  CPN links on nitric oxide - plus this one on nitric oxide, SOD and NACi

On another note - have upped the AZI from 250mg a day to 375 mg a day plus Rifamipin 300mg once aday, plus minocyline and others....

Good Morning, Daisy.  I

Good Morning, Daisy.  I recall reading your discussion with Red.  I looked around a bit regarding the GliSODin and realized the gliadin base might be something that could cause me untoward effect.    However when you talk about the anti-fatigue results yor husband is experiencing I continue to be intrigued.  Clearly you have a great mind for science.  Please keep digesting information for us and sharing back your results.

I downloaded an article back in early July from www.immunesupport.com

I want to say that I have not spent a lot of time reading from this site, I know that CPNhelp.org has been featured there once or twice.  And that they are a source of a variety of supplementsi. Which is a service and there is also a profit motive, so it is a business, just to make that clear.

You may well know of the work of Martin L. Pall, PhD, Professor of Biochemistry and Basic Medical Sciences at Washington State University.

If you go to the site link abouve  I am sure you can find the interview and the write up etc. I printed it out in hard copy.  It was centered around his new book,

Explaining 'Unexplained Illnesses':Disease Paradigm for Chronic Fatigue Syndrom, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Fibromyalgiai, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Gulf War Syndrom and Others.

I believe it discussed the NO/ONOO - cycle bichemistry as it contributes to chronic illness.

From what I have seen (and that is limited I do say here) the site explores a great diversity of mitochondrial support supplementsi and many theories and approaches.   My date of download of info was July 11, 2007.  I was at the peak of my intitial effects of my entry to  CAPi with NACi and high dose Doxyi doing their job extremely well!   My fog was thick and my energy and body symptoms heavy., etc, etc, etc.

So now that I have said all that I wonder if this is at all relevant but..... not matter folks are tolerant here and someone is bound to find something interesting to ponder.

I would love to hear anyone's feedback, it is a pricey book available through Barnes&Noble.com hardcover.   For the serious student of biochemistry.  For now I will save the title for my post CAP reading list!

 Daisy- I have experimented

Daisy- I have experimented with GliSodin as well. Found the capsules more-better than the tablets for some reason, although maybe it was dose related. My results were inconsistent in that sometimes they really helped energy and thinking, especially during pulses, and other times not. But... I did not work the dose up so high. I will try this over the next days and see.

Your note about hair loss and regrowth of healthy hair reminds me of Michele's rather dramatic photos and reports: apoptosisi of cells in alopeciai and regrowth over course of CAP. If you haven't seen these, look in the image gallery or in her blog. THis suggests that somehow the GliSodin is actually causing apoptosis of infected hair follicle cells. Hmmm, interesting.

Jim - Good comments as

Jim - Good comments as always !

I will be interested in your GliSODin experiment.  My husband is taking the GliSODin 250mg capsules by BlueBonnet.  It took about a month on the 2000 mg a day before we saw the euphoria, mood and disposition improvement, giggles, etc... kick in.   Seriously, it was as if at times, he had been given nitrous oxide.  Especially in the evenings after his azithromycin dose.

My theory on the gray hair is a little different though.  I don't think it is apoptosisi related but anti-oxidant related.   My husband is Italian and despite 6 rounds of chemo this year,  his hair is still very thick, full and curly.    BUT he was starting to get a lot of gray hair really fast all over his body and especially in his facial hair.  I think the 2000mg of GliSODin is such a powerful antioxidanti gobbling up free radicals that as his hair naturally has fallen out from normal hair loss/shedding process- the new hair hasn't grown back in gray.  None in fact- facial hair is all dark black again, temples - dark black, chest hair....all black.

Now as you might imagine, the stress of my husband's illness has been giving me a little pre-mature graying of my own.   The other day, after I put  two and two together about the GLiSODin and the missing gray hair, I decided to conduct a non-randomized, non placebo controlled, single center trial on myself.  My favorite kind - N =1.   We will see what my hair dresser has to say in a few weeks when it's root touch up time.  Foot in mouth

Hi Daisy, I'm so glad to

 Hi Daisy,

I'm so glad to hear the lower dose seems to be working well for your husband, with decreased side-effects!    I didn't make the link between less gray and glisodin, but it sure seemed to help minimize the enormous amount of shedding I was doing prior to taking it (I acually associated it with some really welcomed hair regrowth!), and it really helped my dry, irritation prone rosaceai skin during treatment, not to mention giving me much relief from the horrible fatigue.

Interestingly I've been associating vit D3 with an "ungraying" effect, and even more so the firi sauna.   One of my friends even remarked on it a couple of weeks ago, saying it was very noticeable.  It's certainly a nice side-effect, although not so dramatic in my case.   The fir sauna also seems to be helping my dry, irritated skin.  I of course find this very odd as I expected the fir sauna to make my rosaceai much worse...Again, I'm glad to find it helpful!

Keep us posted on both of your progress.    I'm hoping the glisodin works well for you as well...

Red - Maybe it's the D3 but my husband and I have both been on 3000 to 5000 iu of Vitamin Di forever.  I love my FIRi Sauna - my skin is unbelievably soft from sitting in it - elbow, knees and feet softer and smoother too.  I am not surprised that it makes you skin happy.  It sure does mine!

I also hypothesize that if you aren't experiencing flare ups from the FIR sauna that you must be about free of the Cpni - suppose time will tell!

Thanks again for your help with the GliSODin - I am excited to see what happens now that i am on it too!
