Fourth Pulse

Well I finished my fourth pulse on flagyli.  Can't say everything went smoothly this time.

Was really weak on the first thru fourth day. Then on the fifth day was real achey and flu like.  Went to bed early, slept for 12 hours and felt fine the next day.

So compared to some peoples reactions it wasn't too bad.

I'll keep plugging away.  Can't believe it's been five months already!!

Told ya so!    (Ooooh, I

Told ya so!  Smile  (Ooooh, I love being able to say that.)   No, really, isn't it nice to find the apprehension was actually the worst part of doing it?  (I just finished #7 and the only thing I noticed was a little pressure in the ears and I found I was REALLY short-tempered days four and five.  As soon as I realized it was me and not the rest of the world, I clamped my mouth closed except when taking abxi or adjuncts and it went a lot smoother for me.)  So, tell us the improvements, thus far.  Enquiring minds want to know...

Hi McKintosh:

Not much for improvements yet.  Easier to get up from a sitting position.  Stand a bit longer but not much else.

It's too soon so I'm not concerned.

I'm starting LDNi so I hope to see some improvement from that .  But I guess that takes awhile too.

I'm so impatient--I want it all now!!

But I'll wait out the year and see what happens.

I'm glad you added the

I'm glad you added the second bit, at Mackintosh's behest!

Despite your impatience you come over as so calm and patient in all this, which is the best way to be if one can manage it.  Rica is off with the goats later this week, you will soon be off with your dogs, I am sure.  Standing up easier and for longer means more than it might at first appear, because standing up awkwardly takes far more energy than just standing without thinking.

Started the Wheldon regime in August 2003, due to very aggressive SPMSi.  Moved to intermittent therapy after one year.  In May 2006 still take this, two weeks every two months.  EDSSi was about 7, now less than 2.

Completed Stratton/Wheldon regime for aggressive secondary progressive MSi in June 2007, after nearly four years, three of which intermittent.   Still slowly improving and no exacerbation since starting. EDSSi was 7, now 2, less on a good day.

Subtle improvements often

Subtle improvements often go un-noticed but become the baseline for other subtle improvements.   This process is so slow it is sometimes difficult to see what improvements we get from it.  Sounds encouraging to me.

I am  'lucky' that I have a visible means to assessing how I am getting on.   Having very little hair, I can see all the new hair growth appearing week by week, so I know it is working even if at times I feel worse.

Hey, Linda! Five months.

Hey, Linda! Five months. Time goes slowly when we are waiting. Getting up easier and standing a bit longer are the signs of the improvement. Some people had to be contend at first just with the arrest of the disease. Keep plugging away! Best wishes.
