First Flagyl down the hatch

Hi Everyone ~

I'm so sorry to have been absent for so long.  I know I've missed much and am not up to date on what all of you have been going through.

I just want to put on the record that I finally downed my first dose of Flagyli.  I will leave it at the one dose for now to see how it goes.  I feel as though I'm doing very well with tolerating the antibioticsi.  I'm actually able to take both the Doxycycline and the Azithromycin on an empty stomach.  Therefore, I'm not too frightened of the Flagyl (yet).  I took the Flagyl with my supper, however.  I did get a chance to taste it when it got briefly stuck in my throat, so now I know what that's all about!  Afterward, I ate some more, and I'm not tasting it now.

Just a brief update on where I've been.  In February, I believe I got the flu, which was followed by a wicked case of bronchitis.  The second day of the flu, I developed a fever (very rare for me), and then went into atrial fibrillation.  It was so uncomfortable and lasted so long that it sent me to the ER, and I was hospitalized overnight but home the next day.  The same day I got sick, my computer crashed, and it took two weeks to get it back to working.  With all that, I kind of got away from being caught up and didn't spend much time with the computer.  Another reason for that is that my job has become constant computer work, so typing and reading after work or on the weekends isn't much fun anymore.

Some of my symptoms have improved so much, and others have not.  I'm having much less difficulty with headache and migraine, and my throat isn't sore all the time anymore.  Also, I'm having an easier time getting to sleep on most nights.  What is not better is the fatigue, weakness, overall discomfort, that sort of thing.  Also, I've been rather grumpier than usual.  And oh yes, I almost forgot the brain fog, which had been better but is now worse again.

So - now we'll see if this Flagyl does anything over the next few days.  If it does, I'll wait a few weeks to try another.  If not, well I'll figure out what to do next (hopefully with some good input from the veterans here).

~ Finch

Good thing you put that (yet) in there.

Seriously, go slow.  Avoid the temptation to take more because you haven't had anything happen for 24 hours - as I read the blogs here, you may not feel anything for three, five or ten days.  If by that time you've knocked back five days worth of Flagyl when you should have only taken one and your reaction doesn't start until day seven, you will not have a fun time.

Remember to follow the anti-porphyriai/anti-endotoxini regime.

Please let us know how it goes.  I don't know if its because we draw inspiration from it or it's just that misery loves company, but we do want to know.

With any luck, you will be like me and have  relatively mild reactions that don't even give you an excuse to stay home from work (that late night trip to a Chicago Emergency Room not withstanding - although that really had to do with not taking the anti-porphyria/anti-endotoxin regime as seriously as I should).

I saw this on your other

I saw this on your other post and was most pleasantly surprised. All things in their own good time! I think you're going about this wisely and there's nothing wrong with going slowly, so long as you get to where you want to go eventually. So, two pills next times and three the next. Soon you'll be chugging them like they're no big thing.

Thanks for the encouragement

Thanks for the encouragement and wise advice HD and Mack.  I know it's only been two days since my first toe-dip, and it was only one tablet, but I'm rather excited to report a runny nose!  Of course, it could also be the cold that my husband now has.  In any case, I feel like I'm inching closer to actually getting on that Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!  I will give it two weeks before I try again, then it will only be two tablets.  I'm wondering whether it's better to take two tablets in one day, or to take one tablet per day for two days?  Any advice?

Well, you still don't know

Well, you still don't know for sure the end result of this first pill, but if things stay this way, I'd just do one pill a day for two days next time.

I am in the same boat.  I

I am in the same boat.  I just received my 100 tablet bottle of flagyli courtesy of India.  I have been on doxyi 4 months and azith2 months now.  I am looking at the bottle of flagyl like some kind of new designer drug, not sure if I'll have a good trip, or a bad one.  I just gobbled 200 mg doxy and the azith, so I probably should wait till dinner for the flagyl.  I think I will do the same, one tablet and see how it goes.   I'll do this tonight.  Hopefully Finch and I will not have anything too bad to report.

I have a question about the charcoal though.  If the endotoxinsi are released into the blood and the charcoal has it's main action on stomach contents, then how is it going to affect blood bound endotoxins?  I have been taking it, but still miffed on that part of the equation.

So Grumpster - have you

So Grumpster - have you tried that Flagyli yet?  Because believe everyone when they tell you to go slowly and take only one!  I was decent for a couple of days, then got progressively worse (except for one day of feeling better after an acupuncture treatment).  I really didn't expect one tablet to hit me so hard.  Today is the 10th day after, and I feel lots better.  Although it was very hard, I'm very pleased with my reaction.

A question for the vets - does this count as a pulse yet, or do I start counting after I get to the full dosage for five days?

Grumpster, the Charcoal

Grumpster, the Charcoal moves into the small intestine and the bile enters the small intestine to breakdown fats.  This bile contains a combination of substances, which include fat soluble prophorins and liposacaride endotoxinsi.  Much of these would be reabsorbed with the broken down food products.  The Charcoal or cholestyramine absorb some of the fats and porphorins and endotoxins and carries them out with the waste.  Does that answer your question?

Finch, remember that pole

Finch, remember that pole last fall about pulsing?  As I recall one pill once was considered a pulse per the instructions.  So I count my one pill pulse is #1.  I went to full pulse with the next in about two weeks time.   I am looking forward to your reports of your pulses.

Yeah Finch, Glad you made it

Yeah Finch,

Glad you made it through the pulse #1.  As we discussed, that is all I did for #1 - 250 MG.  I have to report that my pulse #8 of 750 MG for 4 days & the last day 250 MG was my toughest during pulse ended 3-24.  I was managing the die off etc until Apr 6 & 7.  So, the increased doseage makes a difference, imhoi & support my 15 days after pulse I can react.

I have to travel on the 14th, & recuperate from the transition back to my home where the weather changes every 10 minutes (slight exageration).  When that is done I will hit Pulse #9 & shoot for 750 mg all 5 days.  So, if all goes good, at my one year mark I will have 10 pulses by June.

Blessings & gooo Pens!  The Oil are waiting for the golf courses to open up, lol.  But, there is next season!

Thanks Rica, After AZ

Thanks Rica,

After AZ warmed up from one of the coldest winters in quite a long time, it agreed with me.  I used my time here to ramp up pulses, enjoy the creative juices that have started peaking through again.  They have been sleeping for a long time!  I praise God for their return & all the blessings we have on this site.

I would share a few photos if I could figure out how to post them!

Ruth, posting pics is fairly easy here.  I did it one night just for fun.  Simply go to your create content link and instead of creating a blog entry pick "image."

Then, the rest is similar to a blog with an upload for your pics.  There's prob other ways to do it but that would work and I'm sure we'd all love to see!
