Few things are perfect - my physical was close

It appears that living right can do good things.   And the young coyote is alive and well - she was not euthanized, but instead released, due to a catch-and-release program!

Today was my annual physical, and I passed with high flying colors.  Such adjectives as: phenomenal, amazing, beautiful, and several others were used.  I was told again that my doctor has fully realized that there is a Vit D deficiency across the county - he used the word "epidemic" - where have I heard that before?  Incidentally, mine is again down to 65, so I will increase my intake again from 8,000 to 10,000 for a while.  My level seems to go up or down as my diligence - unwitting or not - ebbs and flows.

We did well enough at the National show, bringing home nine ribbons.  But it was the same barn where we were at our very first Nationals in 1983, and met again with old friends, some of whom have children who were there with their own goats.

And how am I progressing?  I took an abxi "holiday" for the Nationals time, stopping two of my five abxi.  That was ok during the time I was off of them, though I never stopped the supps.  When we returned home  about four weeks ago on Sunday night, I took up the reins again and went back to my previous schedule.  About an hour later, I dropped the reins, fell off my horse, and lay in a stupor for about two weeks.  If I had had any idea that I was going to pay such a price for my "holiday", I would not have taken it!  But it gave me the idea of taking one of my Rifampin doses in the middle of the night, which has paid off amazingly.  I have always cautioned about Rifampin being serious stuff, but had gotten sloppy and was cutting the post one hour to 45 or 50 minutes instead.  I am now getting all it has to offer and when I take my second dose later in the day, I make certain to go a full hour before eating.  I really wonder if it is possible that this is using more Vit D.  I have changed nothing else.  Liver functions are perfectly normal.

Next month I have a bone scan.  Snce I have been off calcium supps and bone-builders like Fosamax for several years and had osteo-pinea, I am looking forward to the results.  My Vit D is much, much higher than then.

Rica,  I am so proud of

Rica,  I am so proud of you.  It takes a great amount of courage and strength to work through this protocol.  Thank you for your support in my treatment process.

Wonderful news...the National show and a great physical.

Rica ~ here's how I look at

Rica ~ here's how I look at it.  The fact that we have times where we feel fantastic and have great energy and no pain means we have succeeded in killing a lot of it off.  These wonderful times happen more and more often and they stay for longer periods of time.  I was symptom free for a good 6-8 months before I stopped the protocol.  I had gone from about 1 hour of being able to stay awake, staggering around all the while, to waking at 6 and getting to bed by 11:00PM, with not a hint of fibromyalgiai, brain fog or problems climbing stairs, etc.  I could go "full out" all day long, if my activities that day demanded it of me.

The first thing to leave me was the chronic cough I had developed - this was at about the second month on the protocol..at that point I was taking 500mg azith M-W-F and amox twice a day. The last thing to leave me was the fibromyalgia, which would still rear its head up to about the last 4-6 months I was on the protocol.  The fibro would happen whenever I had an unusually hectic day, using my muscles a lot, but I could take a warm bath a couple of Advil and within a couple of hours, it would be gone.  When I was sure it was REALLY gone for good, I could do any activity without it even starting, no matter how tired I got.

I no longer was sensitive to any substance or to anything that I had previously found limiting.  If I have any of the viruses, nothing bothered me any more. The "metal toxicity" was not an issue, nor was a sugary dessert which would have sent me into some kind of insulin coma previously.  I look at it as though I was now strong enough that my body could withstand and handle a certain amount of dreck.

My immunei system got very strong...people in my family had the flu and I nursed them and never got so much as a headache.  I could push myself beyond tired, get quite exhausted after staying really busy all day, or for several days in a row and not ache or stagger.  My mind stayed sharp as a steel trap.  And NOTHING I could do would really wear me down to the point that a good night's sleep would fail to make me ready to do it all again the next day.  I wore out my husband and both sons, who all have great energy.  So I knew I was there.

I admire what you have done Rica. It takes a lot of fortitude.  My belief about this stuff is that, for those of us who can do it, forge straight thru it, "as fast as you can but no faster", as Dr. S says.  I think most of us can get there, because our other issues and co-infectionsi will either be eradicated along with the Cpni or they will become manageable by our body which is no longer hobbled by the Cpn.  I think the mistake most people make is stopping before it's gone. and the bigger problem is that many have to keep on working, etc. while they take the meds..this makes it hellish in a way I didn't have to deal with, because I could just stop and sleep.

AstrodianaI, too, marvel at

I, too, marvel at progress.  But there are days - like right now - when part of me is angry at my lassitude.   But, the other side of that is that there WAS no lassitude for years, only "blobhood".  I have no idea at the rate of progress- whether it will suddenly come to an end  in triumph or dribble off to an occasional isolated confrontation.  What was yours like?  You are the only one writing here now who has really come to the final (or, as it seems) semi-final chapter.  I thought I had but apparently didn't come close enough to get a good view.

Hi Rica I know you're not

Hi Rica I know you're not quite "there" yet, but I still marvel at, once I got towards the end of my protocol, how REALLY healthy I felt and acted compared to others around me who were supposed very healthy. It is great to have your strength and energy back and to have doctors remark at your good progress, isn't it?  My energy and strength and mind has slipped somewhat but I look forward to being one of the healthy ones again soon...here's to all of us regaining the health we once had!  (sorry - I meant Rica, not Raven : )

Raven The young coyote's

The young coyote's brief story is in my previous blog. I still think she would have made a nice friend, though it would have to be on her terms, and that may have had its own problems, considering the turf.
