Today is Memorial Day in the USA. A day to remember those who served and those who have fallen. I certainly honor the soldiers who sacrificed in duty to country. My dad served in the Navy during WWII, and I think of him today with appreciation and knowledge of the trauma he carried with him, back from the war.
But there is another group of fallen and sacrificed more on my mind right now. Chlamydia pneumoniae has taken countless lives through many disabling diseasesi. It has stolen the quality of life and life force, literally the ATP life energy, of it's victims. And also, literally, killing others. Cancers, heart diseasei, organ failure from "autoimmune" disease, high blood pressurei, immune dysfunction which leaves one open to other more deadly infectionsi. So many have been victims of this bacterium. So many have been sacrificed unwittingly.
So, for me, this website and our pioneering together in the CAPi's and our hopes for other new treatments for Cpni related diseases, is an act of rememberance, not just a hope for our own individual cure.
I hope not one more person has to die of a disease caused by this bug. I know that this will occur, but I stake my claim on this hope anyway, to honor those who have fallen to it in the on-going war that we learn from their, and our, suffering.
Even in the midst of a tinii pulse, I know that this is about reclaiming life, mine certainly. My daughter's, eventually. And that of every person here who has been victimized by this disease. Victims no longer, but celebrants of new hope, of support, of appreciation for each person's struggle and passage to healing.
LeChaim! To life!

Jim, our elder brother in
Jim, our elder brother in faith, thanks for your editorial. Today is a sweet day for us of house-puttering, dog-shearing, and listening to War, Steely Dan, Doors, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons Project, and Etta James...a day of simple pleasures, relationship, joy, and hope. What if your father and my father and all the veterans had not sacrificed for us? What would all our lives be like today?
And what if you brave veteran CPNi fighters had not taken the plunge and shared the word with us? The hope we hold today would be missing, that's what! Thanks to all of you military and abxi-sword-wielding veterans...we owe you so much. Its not a memorial day over here, but every day I remember to countless number of sufferers our there who don't have the advantage of knowing about Cpni and the CAPi. I promise myself to do what I can to spread the word.
