Day 3 of Pulse 14

In the past, I've posted just before starting a pulse. This time, I was caught between being on vacation, scatter-brained, and distracted, and so I didn't follow that pattern as I had in the past. No matter, there are no rules. :-)

What can I report on this pulse so far?  Well, I'm not entirely certain that it was due to flagyli, but I had a really bad first day.  I was experiencing worsened symptoms in the morning after the first dose.  This may also have been due to other things going on...my daily regimen/schedule being thrown off by the vacation, hunger, heat, there are several possibilities.  However, I continued through the day and have made it to day 3 without too much more difficulty.  Of course, I'm brushing aside how really really bad I was feeling the first day.  It was't anything specific, just a general increase in the severity of my symptoms.  It was kind of a two steps forward, 500 steps back day.  It sucked.  I think maybe the heat just made it worse but didn't cause it.

Those of you who may be following my blog/progress might recall that I reported having less complications from heat.  While true up to about 87 degrees F, anything above that point and I'm right back where I started.  It sucks but it's still an improvement from a year or two ago where the set point was 80 degrees F.

I have to remind myself that there have been improvements, that they are real.  I've been in the dumps lately about the whole treatment and I know it's probably because of the depressive effect of the antibioticsi.  I march on.

A follow up--it's been a week since I began the pulse which ended on Wednesday.  Comparing how I feel today to how I felt last Saturday, I definitely feel better.  I probably won't ever know why I had such a terrible day last week, know whether or not it was flagyl or other things that were going on, but I'm still inclined to think it was a combination of things.

I generally don't have particularly bad days on Saturday.  Sunday is almost always the down day for me physically.  I'll be watching myself closely next month to see how the first day goes and whether or not I have the same kind of reaction on the first or subsequent days.

On a related but different subject, I am contemplating getting an MRI.  My last one was done in March 2006, just before I began the CAPi.  I'll need to search the site to see if I can find anything that would help explain/contrast the two, and what I can derive from the differences.

Improved tolerance of heat

Improved tolerance of heat is a difinitive advantate.   I remember when Ella would take half an hour to recover from a warm bath, now she seems to get out without a second thought.   It was so depressing not to be able to 'enjoy' a bath without the consequencial weakness.   It must be horrendous to feel that weakness all the time, everyday in the summer.

Hope you feel better soon and that your lousiness turns into well being at the end of the pulse.

Thanks for the well wishes Michele.  Yes, it is a definite advantage to be able to tolerate, if not entirely ignore the heat of the day.  The things we take for granted with respect to good health!

I'm glad to hear Ella is doing so well.  She was and is still worse in her condition than I ever was and I hope that her improvement continues unabated.

I too suffer from depression as many of us do as a result of our illnesses & just found out that Tinii can be used instead of Flagyli.  Apparently it also has some weight issue positives!!

Wow, it should be interesting to see if you have Rica's pattern of big fallbacks resulting in big gains. It's starting to sound that way. Good luck!
