Boyd Haley Interview About Heavy Metals and Porphyrins

I was very interested in this interview and it gave me some new insight into the role of heavy metals and the hemei cycle. http://www.usautism.org/PDF_files_newsletters/boyd_haley_biomarkers2.pdf

It is worth a read.

Yes indeed, Janice. I can now see how heavy metals can play a significant role in these infectionsi.I would urge everyone treating for a stealth infection to investigate their metals load and at least try cilantro for chelation. Chelation, I have found, is synergistic with abxi treatment. Another piece of the puzzle has been revealed. Raven

I can hardly believe how strongly I am reacting to one dose of the chelator. I intended to take a pill every other day, but all I can stand is once a week. I thought three and a half years of metronidazolei had me toughened up better than that.

I hear you Janice. I gave up

I hear you Janice. I gave up for a while because I needed to wrap up the school year but I will begin again this week with very small amounts. My OSR came as a powder with a tiny dosing spoon. I will try 1/2 of the tiny spoonful and see how it goes. I am also going to take some fluconozole before I start to kill yeast.

I have read that some recommend taking phospholipids with the OSR. I'm not sure why but I have some I ordered from iherb by Allergy Research. If I find out more I will post.

Also, taking charcoal would certainly help with the toxic metals. And boosting C.

I am certain I had die off symptoms when I was taking the full dose for a week. It was really miserable. And I have been doing the CAPi for 3 yrs +!!!!Glad to hear I am not alone.

So I guess taking very small doses might help not getting slammed. I will talk to my doctor at the end of the month and see what he has to say about it.

The OSR is making me really tired and depressed. However, fiber seems to help a bit keeping that moving out of the system.

heya!

I am doing the OSR stuff too. I looked at those videos regarding mercury, pretty interesting information and I agree that there seems to be similarities between CFSi and autism as you mentioned in one of your posts raven. I speculate on a lot of things, but sometimes wonder if all the health problems people have may be linked to toxins that damage ones immunei system along with other complicatons due to superbugs and other strange viruses floating around that people get when they have these newly damaged immune systems. I think that is what CFS is right? weakened immune system that allows one to get overrun by every strange disease that healthy people can fend off. Who knows if cancer, diabetes, IBS, ulcerative colitus, and all these other unknown health problesm are due to the same thing, jus treact differently in people depending on his genetic makeup and so on.

I heard in the video that peanut butter is good with OSR becuase it helps it make it to the cells. I also here that lipoic acid may be bad? because it works against the OSR.

There are the random thoughts rolling around in my head today...

Mark, thanks for posting

Mark, thanks for posting about this. I think Haley said that you should take ALA four hours apart from OSR. Its something to do with both of them acting in a similar fashion--if I recall some people use ALA as a chelator.

Also the peanut butter sounds like a good idea because OSR is fat soluble.

Hope you are feeling better,

Raven

Here is an interesting article to add to your collection of mercury research Raven. Kind of goes along with the tests our doctor is trying out with OSR. Which is the presence of mercury may inhibit the body's ability to fight infection.

"Abstract: The authors found that antibioticsi used to treat various infectionsi often were ineffective in the presence of abnormal localized deposits of heavy metals like Hg and Pb, which were often observed to co-exist with Chylamydia trachomatis, Herpes Simples Types I & II, Cytomegalovirus(CMV), and other micro-organisms."

Great interview with Dr.

Great interview with Dr. Haley.  Thanks for posting.

This site listed below has a protocol for Mecury chelation and notes the timing and use of alpha lipoic acid:

http://www.healing-arts.org/children/holmes.htm

"An ideal course of chelation therapy for mercury poisoning should include the following:

  1.
    1. No more fish or seafood (salmon is supposed to be OK).
    2. Replace any amalgam fillings in teeth with white composite material.
    3. Use only thimerosal-free vaccines.

  2. First, stopping any ongoing exposure:

  3. Gettting rid of the loosely-bound body mercury.

  4. Then, chelating the more tightly-bound mercury including that in the brain.

  5. Appropriate nutritional support designed to counteract mercury’s known effects and to make the patient more comfortable while mercury is being moved around. The use of antioxidantsi is recommended.

  6. Appropriate monitoring tests (especially important in non-verbal children) to check on blood counts, kidney and liver function, and mineral levels, and to gauge how much mercury is being excreted.

The method notes to remove loose body mercury first (using DMSA), retest with a provoked urine test to make sure the organs are clear, then add ALA to the DMSA.  The reasoning is DMSA will loosen body mercury, which ALA will carry past the blood brain barrier.  So the body mercury is cleared first, before using chelators that reach the brain.

I don't see any reference to studies, although this would appear to be a cautious course of treatment. Dr. Holmes clinic treated autistic children, so this could be based on patient experience.

  Thank you doug, chelation

Thank you doug, chelation protocol seems to be very good.

Raven, does ALA stand for

Raven, does ALA stand for Alpha Lipoic Acidi?    I have had heavy metals screened for by blood test twice and I am fortunate that they are not an issue for me personally.   I just order Bert Benson's book on Alpha Lypoic Acid and plan to use it in therapeutic dosage to promote further liver regeneration so that I can get back on CAPi, or at least use it in higher dosages while I am on my trial of intermittent.   Louise

 Lousie, If you checked

Lousie, If you checked your heavy methal levels on your blood samples that wouldn't be a good way and wouldn't show whether you are intoxicated or not. You cannot find heavy methals in your blood in high levels, because they distribute to fatty tissues like liver and brain quickly. You should get a DMSA chelation urine test to see real condition.

Yes, ALA stands for Alpha

Yes, ALA stands for Alpha Lipoic Acidi. I have heard that blood tests are not always revealing of metals that have sequestered themselves in tissues. You may benefit from a urine test done after a chelation challenge of several days (maybe 4-5). This is what I am seeing being done by knowledgeable practitioners. And this is just what Yilmaz has suggested and he is a doctor.

Hi Everybody,

I have had the best day in a long time! Finally did some paperwork that I have been trying to do for about 3 months! I stopped chelating and added some evening primrose oil lately.

I found an interesting website from a person who tells her story of success from chelation.

Mark, thanks so much for posting this link. I read everything on this site--could not put it down.

I am certain that heavy metals have contributed significantly to my health problems. It was interesting what he said about abxi reducing the ability of the body to detox mercury.

Also important observation was taking breaks form chelation.

I'm glad you are feeling better!

If I understood Dr.P's

If I understood Dr.P's assistant correctly, lead is more commonly a problem in his patients than mercury is. I tested high for lead, and have no idea how I got it. I am now feeling at least as good while taking OSR, as when not taking it.

Janice, I just talked to him

Janice, I just talked to him (Dr. P)and he told me the same thing. I've been doing some looking around on the web and found that many plastics contain significant amounts of lead. One that is fairly pervasive is PVC--poly vinyl chloride.

Here is a link from an industry site. Of course they minimize the risks.

http://www.pvc.org/What-is-PVC/How-is-PVC-made/PVC-Additives/Lead-Stabilisers

There was recently an article in our local paper about a recall of brightly colored plastic womens' purses that tested high in lead. Lead has been found in 60% of bright red lipsticks. (Yikes!) And if you are 50 or over, you grew up during a time when gas was leaded.

And this was pretty scary:

http://www.besafenet.com/pvc/factsheet_on_pvc.htm
"About 5.4 million tons of phthalates and 156 thousand tons of lead are used each year in the worldwide production of PVC. The world stock of PVC in use contains a staggering 3.2 million tons of lead. Lead has been found in PVC children’s toys, lunch boxes, baby bibs, packaging, electronics, and even Christmas trees." (Add cosmetics, shower curtains, women's handbags, car interiors, etc)

As you may know, phthlates are linked to hormone disruptions in infants  and children. Aren't we just a bunch of stupid sheep hell bent on poisoning ourselves?

I wonder if OSR helps remove any other toxic stuff. I am finally able to handle one little scoop a day. Glad you are able to take it too.

You may also want to look into EDTA as a heavy metal chelator- My wife had a very strong response after a small dose. It is used in medicine for heavy metal poisining. it is FDA approved as a food additive and has had no significant side effects. We live on the Gulf Coast so I have taken it for several years after ingesting local seafood for mercury.
